Responsibilities
- Identify, extracts, and cleans appropriate data for any given business problem small or large, simple or complex. Is able to piece together data from unknown sources or domains on their own
- Knowledgeable and aware of many analytical modeling techniques. Able to choose best model for given business problem. Advanced statistical tests, hypothesis testing, statistical inference, advanced feature engineering, experimental design, time series analysis
- Identifies and understands proper model evaluation metrics. Applies best practices for model training, fitting, and validating
- Able to appropriately deploy models into production via appropriate methods
- Mastery in at least one statistical or technical software (R, Python, SQL). SQL Power User. Ability to troubleshoot code in software of expertise. Easily read through and identify issues of code with limited exposure.
- Expert knowledge of Power BI (or other visualization tools of choice). Experience with report deployment, monitoring.
- Lead data domain specific governance working groups to define standards for data integrity and quality
- Facilitate the impact analysis, development and implementation of data source migration for existing applications
- Lead collaboration in the creation or maintenance of data model designs
- Accountable for managing master data repository integrity and quality through data creation, cleansing, audits and validation
- Serve as the data management product/tool expert and primary liaison for support with internal stakeholders and external vendor partner to answer questions, resolve issues, administer training, perform root-cause analysis/solutioning and provide reporting for stakeholders
- Define indicators of performance and quality metrics and ensure compliance with data related policies, standards, roles and responsibilities, and adoption requirements
- Responsible for identification and implementation of data policies, standards, and procedures
Technical/Business Expertise
- Has a thorough understanding of their team’s domain, strategy, and how it maps to overall market trends. Has a thorough understanding of adjacent teams’ strategies and how they map to their team and interaction points.
- Advises customers and/or business analysts on discrete technology-related business problems, leveraging appropriate IT colleagues and/or vendors as appropriate.
- Formulates options including assessing their relative merits and risks, and works to determine the best solution.
- Is aware of when regulatory issues are applicable and who to engage to address any concerns.
- Demonstrates an advanced understanding of the relevant data management and analytics tools and technologies for the area supported.
- Demonstrates an advanced understanding of data life cycle Management (DLCM)
- Acts as a resource to others on the existing data supporting a business area. Serves as a key resource to ensure the data is fit for purpose.
- Works independently and provides guidance within technical area, applying in-depth knowledge of multiple technologies and business processes, as appropriate.
- Understands architectural issues, and factors them into decisions and recommendations.
- Provides leadership in their area(s) of technical specialization.
Experience and Education
- A bachelor’s degree is preferred, or equivalent experience. Typical candidates will possess 8+ years of relevant experience and a BS in a quantitative field or equivalent experience.
Leadership Responsibilities (Direct Reports)
- May manage the technical design and/or serve as the technical lead for small and large projects.
- With minimal support, analyzes vendor proposals, evaluates build versus buy, and formulates significant components of a project plan.
- Conducts, provides and is accountable for the accuracy of work estimates. Anticipates changes to the project estimate and escalates accordingly.
- Coordinates with vendors necessary to complete the project, as appropriate.
