Analyst – IRL Operational Insights – IRL Operational Insights
PRIMARY FUNCTION
The Indirect & Reverse Logistics (IRL) Operations Insights team is looking for a self-starting, curious and results-oriented analyst/programmer who is interested in prototyping data products that will power Target’s future Indirect supply chain & Reverse logistics. The Analyst – Prototyping works with a broad, cross-functional team to build, test and iterate on solutions that provide insights to operations team within the IRL Global Supply Chain Organization.
The Operations Insights Prototyping team is responsible for building a high-quality proof of concepts / minimum viable products with business teams throughout the IRL Global Supply Chain organization. The team has a mix of business acumen and technical skills, allowing it to employ design thinking (and other problem-solving methodologies) to determine the root cause of issues, and deliver solutions for testing quickly using the agile framework.
This role requires a person with excellent analytical/technical abilities, the desire, and love of learning, and interest in Targets operations and logistics functions. We are looking for someone who has a deep commitment to collaboration and a proclivity to invent, interested in building cool stuff with great people. You should have some programming experience in an open source language (preferably R or Python), and a real interest to build and hone these skills – we are willing to teach. The candidate must be a self-starter and comfortable with ambiguity to work in our fast-paced ever-changing environment.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Works closely with Product Owner Operations Insights to build a proof of concepts / minimum viable products establish business health metrics and develop automation solutions to improve operations efficiency
- Understands Target’s business and technical environments. Assists teams in resolving complex business challenges via technical solutions.
- Identify appropriate data, metrics and determine appropriate business requirements
- Translates client’s business requirements into technical requirements, drive requirements into solutions
- Create mockup/MVP of reports/solutions and solicit feedback
- Build and manage robotic products
- Develop detailed Timing & Action, estimating the development time
- Use data to create business domain-specific models, use the feedback loop to continuously improve the accuracy
- Communication of progress, milestones, challenges against the plan, and escalation of issues
- Works across business lines to remove barriers and generate strong support for strategies, ideas, and plans.
- Develops best method and practices on governance for reports.
- Be a great team player, mentor team members and help build a team of high caliber software development engineers
JOB REQUIREMENTS
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelors in Supply Chain, Business, Economics, Computer Science, Engineering or related field or relevant experience in business analysis/data analyst/statistical analyst role
- Robust critical thinking skillset with knowledge of root cause identification techniques (6 sigma, design thinking, etc)
- Excellent communication skills (verbal/written) – Ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams
- Strong understanding of statistical concepts and modeling
- Familiarity with an open source programming language (R or Python)
- Familiarity with SQL, Expert Microsoft Excel
- Experience with test-driven development and software test automation
- Strong sense of ownership
- Passion for emerging technologies, a culture of continuous learning and innovation
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences
DESIRED REQUIREMENTS:
- 2 + years of experience in the supply chain, writing scripts in R or Python, developing SQL queries
- Experience in designing and developing data products using and automation of data flows.
- Experience in connecting to and extracting data from API / Kafka topics.
- Developed dashboards on data visualization tools like Domo, Tableau, R Shiny Etc
