Description

The System Operations Analyst I provides first level technical administration and operational support of the production and lower level environments. This position reports to the Enterprise Operations Center Manager. Provides support to the following systems (but is not limited to) IBMi on Power, Microsoft Exchange, Windows systems, Linux systems, and production monitoring tools. Responsibilities also include monitoring production systems in a multi-tiered, multi-platform distributed environment, ensuring batch and online processing completes within scheduled timeframes, and production issues are resolved or escalated to appropriate teams for prompt resolution.

This role also supports all Linux hosted WebSphere products to include Application Server, IBM Integration Bus, eXtreme Scale, and MQ. The Operations Analyst performs regular deployment of code to multiple environments leveraging ANT scripts, Jenkins, and Bitbucket; participates in systems design and configurations to support both internally and externally facing web services and APIs.


Job Responsibilities

  • Monitor critical systems, services, and networks for failures or impacts to expected service levels using enterprise tools including but not limited to CA Wily, VCOPS, CCSS, ITCAM, and SolarWinds. Manage and acknowledge alerts received.

  • Perform application installation, configuration, maintenance and upgrades to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of a WebSphere runtime environment and the ESB (IBM Integration Bus and WebSphere MQ).

  • Deployment, administration and operational support of multiple environments for various projects using the WebSphere suite of applications.

  • Assist other IT teams in assessing the business requirements to determine the suitability of specific server hardware and software solutions as well as build automated deployment processes.

  • Execute disaster recovery procedures and provide Tier 2 technical support.

  • Issue initial outage notification event communications as directed and initiate major outage communication technical bridges as requested.

  • Perform security and anti-virus patching and software distribution pushes monthly or as requested via the Change Management process.

  • Troubleshoot issues affecting corporate, warehouse, and store operations and provide findings to senior level staff during and after resolution efforts as required.

  • Leverage performance and analysis tools to support optimal performance of system level functionality.

  • Create and respond to support tickets with vendors, primarily IBM, to find effective solutions to problems or performance issues.

  • Maintain detailed documentation of system administrative processes and following prescribed configuration management procedures.

  • Open, update, and complete assigned change, incident, and problem management tickets as required.

  • Prepare and maintain detailed documentation of system administrative processes, incident resolutions for Wiki Knowledge Base, and changes made to monitoring tools; following prescribed configuration management procedures.


Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Information Technology/Computer Science or related field

  • Proven ability to solve complex problems under pressure.

  • Basic understanding of LAN/WAN, DNS, and Active Directory.

  • Skilled at working within a team oriented, collaborative environment.

  • Experience creating scripts (ANT, shell, application server).

  • Competency in RedHat Enterprise Linux (5.x, 6.x, 7.x) , RedHat Network Satellite Server, RedHat Enterprise Virtualization, RedHat Enterprise Virtualization Manager, RedHat Enterprise Virtualization Hypervisor.

  • Knowledge of vulnerability management, and PCI compliant environments.

  • Experience administering, testing and debugging MB/IIB, MQ, Application Server including problem diagnosis and troubleshooting on Linux, HTTP and XML and using IBM Integration Bus Toolkit is a plus.

  • Basic knowledge of network protocols, software applications, or operating support systems desired.

  • One-year experience in telecommunication, internet, or network operation center environments desired

  • Possess an understanding of ITIL Foundations (Certification preferred)

  • Have basic understanding of ITIL Service Operations (Incident Management, Event Management and Problem Management)
