Description:
This Sr. Network Engineer position is Data Center focused and will be paired with an existing Sr Network Architect who is responsible for data center networks. This person is taking requests from ticket systems internally, talking to them about their needs and working together to build it out. Drexel’s Data Center is spread across two facilities in separate locations on campus using active or active stand-by: Arista Routing, F5 Application Load Balancing Decrypt, Palo Alto Firewalls. Top Of Rack 10G switches – hosts have dual homed interfaces to TOR switchers. Day-to day Work requires support of Drexel’s infrastructure, including but not limited to, adds and move changes, lifecycle replacement, network configuration (including ACL’s, firewall rules, switching configurations to hosts and v-hosts), planning next generation replacement of architecture, planning for cloud deployment, OSPF routing Network Management Tools being utilized: 1. UNIX command line and SQL query language; Drexel also uses AKPIS but this is not well known in the industry. 2. Strong UNIX skills required (should show history of building opensource tools in LAMP environment) 3. preferred experience in DevOps or ansible and other automation tools – as this is Drexel’s NextGen migration path

Does not need any Microsoft specific skills They do not support file systems or fiber channel or fiber channel over ethernet/ip deep internal knowledge of IP Protocols (tcp/ip). is preferred Deep understanding of Ethernet packets, IP packets, able to read and understand Wireshark packet captures. Understanding HTTPS, SSL Encryption/Decryption. Strong security mindfulness to right security rules and ACL’s. Unix and SQL, Perl, TCL, Python: Strongly desired. DEEP UNDERSTANDING OF BGP IS A LEG UP *Resume Tips*: Looking for someone that outlines their responsibilities and what they have done with these specific skills and technologies. The hiring manager likes to see projects and cases in which the consultant has worked with the required technologies. In other words he is looking for someone that outlines their responsibilities and what they have done. ANYONE WITH HIGHER ED/HOSPITAL/LARGE ENVIRONMENT is a plus
