This role plays a key role in the success of the business capability domain-based organisation model that underpins Telstra’s IT Strategy where persistent cross functional teams continuously innovate their domain capability with rapid time to value and high re-usability. This is the core to Telstra’s digitisation strategy delivering new digital customer and employee experiences leveraging new digital platforms and new ways of working. This role is an essential part of the capability domain, leading cross skilled teams in building the systems that have been designed.

As a Technical Business Analysis Senior Specialist, you thrive on applying analytical thinking to anticipate and resolve complex issues and drive solution development. You secure the buy-in and input from diverse stakeholders and teams to define and scope business problems that enable the technical capability teams to successfully deliver value, achieve mission outcomes and maintain a high standard of operational performance.
Key Responsibilities:
This is how you will bring the purpose of your role to life:
- Leverage deep technical domain skills and expertise to conduct technical impact and gap analysis, design and research, working as part of a technical capability team in one or more missions to enable mission design and delivery, and as part of capacity planning and lifecycle management activities.
- Collaborate with diverse stakeholders (the team, product owners, technical product owners, solution designers and solution owners, as well as component teams’ DevOps engineers, testers, and technical writers) to analyse business needs, develop and document both functional and non-functional specifications/stories, model workflows, model data, clarify business rules and acceptance criteria to enable capability teams to successfully deliver value and mission epics.
- Apply analytical thinking during iterative analysis, development, and testing activities, to provide input and anticipate and resolve issues in the identification, reporting and closing of gaps in acceptance and feasibility.
- Work with the team and technical product owners to break down work into epics, features, stories, and specifying acceptance criteria, when working in agile teams, to enable the effective planning and delivery of work.
- Manage the product backlog, along with the Product Owner and help the PO in prioritizing the upcoming work items.
- Provide subject matter expertise in specific functional or technical domains for assigned technical capability teams to drive solution development and/or resolve problems within the team.
- Collaborate with the team to define and measure delivery and operational performance metrics and provide input to the wider team for capability performance, growth, and learning.
- Synthesise and share knowledge of emerging technology trends, innovations, and disruptions, preparing tailored analysis to define and deliver reusable components and capabilities.
- Use your strong communication skills to gain buy-in and input from stakeholders and teams, into continuous improvement and ways of working.
About you
To be successful in the role, you’ll bring skills and experience in:
Essential
- 8+ years of experience in delivery of technical components of large complex IT projects.
- 5+ years of relevant Business Analyst experience
- Experience as a BA working in projects dealing with Order Management, fulfilment, assurance systems
- Experience of working as a BA for global telecom service providers
- Experience of working with CRM systems, preferably Salesforce with Vlocity
- Experience of working in a large Agile program with multiple inter-dependent Teams
- Excellent facilitation and communication skills
- Proficient in Jira – Experience of creating epics and user stories and managing product backlog
- Effective stakeholder management and collaboration skills
- Can translate ambiguous business ideas into clear technical requirements
Highly desirable
- Experience of core Telecom domains, such as Product Catalog, Order journey, Assurance, Billing.
- Experience of working with more than 1 teams as a Business Analyst
- Experience of closely working with the PO on the Product roadmap
- Knowledge of Non-functional and accessibility requirements
- Experience of collaborating with UX (User Experience) + VD (Visual Designers) + PO’s (Product Owners) to ensure alignment of requirements
