Tesla is looking for a highly motivated data/systems engineer supporting responsible for performing advanced analytics, creating infrastructure and data pipelines, developing predictive models, and making data applications that enable cross functional teams to leverage a wealth of cell manufacturing data efficiently and effectively. In this role, you will focus on building data pipelines and infrastructure that power data science systems, tools, software, and applications for the Cell Engineering team.
The battery cell is a critical component in Tesla vehicles and storage systems. This role will have the opportunity to make meaningful contributions to our products. The work environment is demanding, fast-paced, and incredibly exciting. What You’ll Do
What You’ll Do
- Analyze and interpret high volume manufacturing data from various sources to extract statistics and insights about the operation
- Maintain existing data visualizations and develop dashboard enhancement requests
- Maintain data pipelines in Python via Apache AirFlow
- Build robust dashboards using React and JavaScript
- Quickly identify operations and quality issues through data pulls and visualizations
- Work with engineers and conduct end-to-end analyses, from data requirement gathering, to data processing and modeling Interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques and provide ongoing reports
- Perform data quality and integrity validations
- Identify data improvement opportunities, developing tools that allow for visibility into process bottlenecks and inconsistencies
- Work closely with controls, process, and quality engineers to develop and improve data collection activities and reporting tools within a high-volume manufacturing environment
What You’ll Bring
What You’ll Bring
- B.S. degree or higher in quantitative discipline (e.g., Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Statistics, Industrial Engineering) or the equivalent in experience and evidence of exceptional ability
- 2-3+ years of work experience in data engineering and platform engineering
- Experience in data mining and databases (e.g., MySQL)
- Experience in data visualization experience (e.g., Tableau, React JS, Grafana, Matplotlib, Seaborn)
- Experience developing software preferably with React JS
- Experience with web apps and handling large volumes of data
- Possess a high level of attention to detail and professionalism in report creation even under tight deadlines
- Be a team player across diverse functional groups
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to manage and communicate
- Experience in high volume manufacturing is a plus where automated assembly is performed and data collected via Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES)

Expected Compensation
$80,000 – $258,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
