What To Expect

Tesla Demand Planning is hiring a planner to manage the sales & operations planning process. This role will use quantitative modeling and analysis to build cross-functional alignment on strategic supply-demand decisions. Ideal candidates have experience in operational planning and supply chain, building tools to solve quantitative optimization problems, and strong interpersonal and presentation skills.

What You’ll Do

  • As part of the global Demand Planning team, track, manage, and proactively communicate on global constraints that affect multiple factories and markets. Coordinate on trade-offs with international teams as necessary
  • Implement supply-demand strategies both through ad-hoc code (SQL, Python, etc.) and partnering with IT to develop scalable long-term solutions
  • Implement granular plan optimizations using internal planning software, as well as SQL/Python as necessary. Partner with supply chain, production, and logistics to incorporate constraints into models, identify bottlenecks in advance, and deal with unexpected challenges as they arise.
  • Track key inputs to the build plan in a structured format, aligning discrepancies with operational teams regularly
  • Help implement that plan in our planning systems, from high-level build plan modeling to detailed order management, etc.
  • Present business cases for risks, allocation changes, etc. to leadership of sales, finance, logistics, and delivery
  • Provide forecasts into anticipated production, supply chain, and logistics capacities over time

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience / evidence of exceptional ability
  • 3+ years related experience in operations planning, demand planning, outbound supply chain, or analytics role
  • Mastery of Microsoft Excel required
  • Proficiency in SQL strongly preferred
  • Tableau skills and exposure to Python/R or other programming experience are a plus
  • Proven ability to independently own an operational process, especially in manufacturing or a large company
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and build organic support for key initiatives
  • Excellent judgment and ability to proactively anticipate complex chain-reaction impacts of plans
  • Self-motivation, strong work ethic, and a passion for being hands-on in their work
