What to Expect

We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Data Engineer experience to support our Tesla Service Organization. You will be part of a team that is managing Distribution strategic projects and continuous improvement efforts for Tesla’s End-to-End Supply Chain. The Data Engineer is responsible for processing structured and unstructured data, validating data quality, and developing and supporting data products. You will require a sharp business focus, a collaborative style of working, and a proactive and critical mindset. It is essential that you can think strategically, connect the dots in the bigger picture, as well as be comfortable in the details of the deliverables to drive operational improvements.
  • Tesla is a fast moving, dynamic environment where flexibility and adaptability are key attributes. The successful candidate is a self-starter with knowledge of Inventory management techniques and continuously demonstrates an ability to tackle complex problems and implement solutions.

What You’ll Do

Use modern tools, techniques and architectures to partially or completely automate the most-common, repeatable data preparation to minimize manual and error-prone processes
  • In particular, the data engineer will work in close relationship with data science teams and with business (data) analysts in refining their data requirements.
  • Design, code, test, correct and document programs and scripts using agreed standards and tools to achieve a well-engineered result
  • Own projects ranging from data structure design to extraction / transformation / loading (ETL), as well as building dashboards for analysis to provide varying levels of visualizations tailored for each audience.
  • Develop and maintain databases and applications to automate real-time monitoring as well as the collection and analysis of reliability data from laboratory tests and field evaluations.
  • Develop programming and technical tools that leverage artificial intelligence and machine learning and to pave the way for smarter and faster data-driven decisions and predictions.
  • Continuously improve SQL and python skills, helping you automate repetitive work and multiply yourself

What You’ll Bring

Masters or BA/BS + 1 Yr Experience in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or other technical fields.
  • Strong background in data modeling, data access, and data storage techniques.
  • Outstanding programming skills (Python and HTML are preferred, Java, JavaScript and cyclone will also be considered).
  • Demonstrated experience creating automated data analytics tools.
  • Skills in building dashboards using Tableau, Power BI, or similar visualization software.
  • Excellent teamwork/interpersonal skills, willing to gain and share new knowledge and the ability to communicate effectively.
  • Remaining engaged, proactive and positive in tough circumstances. Own assignments and take full accountability for their success.
  • Positive attitude, eager to learn and ability to change direction quickly.
