Job Location: Lehi, UT
This unique position will have the opportunity to bless the lives of literally millions of our Heavenly Father’s children by helping them find their ancestors in the billions of currently unindexed document images on FamilySearch’s site. This position will be challenging and provide opportunities to learn and apply machine learning to automatically index millions of records.
What will you be doing?
- Creating and productizing services to make available machine learning technologies from our Research team.
- Applying machine learning, data science and software development knowledge to improve our machine learning and record publication capabilities to extract data from historical records.
- Helping build the future of machine learning tools and services to support the purpose of FamilySearch.
- Utilizing data science in machine learning to improve overall extraction of information from historical records.
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field
- Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field preferred
Experience, Skills, and Abilities:
- Combination of 4 years of machine learning and software development experience. (Minimum 2 years of software development experience and minimum of 2 years of data science and machine learning experience).
- Hands on experience in developing machine learning models and solutions in a production environment that provide business value.
- Hands on experience in software development in a production environment.
- Experience in curating training data to train models and improve model performance
- Experience in performing root cause analysis of machine learning solutions and using that analysis to improve overall results.
- Solid understanding of applied mathematics, statistics, and probability
- Use of essential Linux data manipulation tools like sed, grep, sort, regexes, etc.
- Familiarity with common Machine Learning frameworks
- Understanding of theory and mechanics of deep learning techniques
- Computer Science and programming fundamentals
- Python and Java Programming Experience
