Position Overview
This position requires previous experience and specialization in applying data analysis and machine learning approaches to help us understand the connections between technical data and sweet taste quality/sweetener discovery. You will be working within the Sweetener R&D to develop models that enable us to predict sweeteners taste quality/sweet molecules. This internship role has the unique ability to leverage the power of data science to drive sweetener system creation and product formulation in business-critical areas.

Function Related Activities/Key Responsibilities
- Support the discovery of sweetener systems for the beverage category by leveraging data science, data analytics, machine learning, artificial intelligence
- Data management and entry. Build out databases.
- Build predictive models based on combining sensory, structural, and physiochemical property data
- Perform statistical analysis across diverse datasets to drive and measure performance
Education Requirements
- Currently pursuing a Master’s or PhD in Data Science, or Statistics, Chemistry, Applied Math, or related disciplines with a final graduation date no earlier than December 2023 and hands on experience in Data Science projects/techniques.
Related Work Experience
- Experience with and passion for efficient and coherent coding (Python, R, SQL)
- Experience in connecting data to consumer preference or liking is preferred
- Experience in the creation, governance, maintenance, and sustainment of analytic solutions, databases
Functional Skills
- Familiarity with theory and application of multiple machine learning techniques (logistic regression, clustering, etc.) and statistical measurement capabilities
- Ability to build programs and algorithms for simulation of a real-world experience
- Analytical mindset that can define or identify a problem, generate alternatives or potential solutions, evaluate, and implement the chosen solution
- Strong communication skills and ability partner with both technical and non-technical team members
- Some exposure to the following tools & techniques is a plus: SQL, Tableau, Alteryx, Natural Language Processing (NLP)
- Basic understanding of Chemistry and familiarity with chemical structures is a plus.
