Job Title: Manager, Data Engineering – SAP BW

Summary:
The Enterprise Data organization drives value for Hershey by providing high-quality, well governed data to the Enterprise for analytics and decision-making.
The Manager of Data Engineering-SAP BW will lead a team of data engineers in the SAP domain, focusing on the design, execution, and optimization of data solutions. The leader will also be responsible for the upskilling of their team, while educating stakeholders on the use of data solutions at Hershey. The role will ensure that new and existing data solutions meet expectations and requirements across tools like SAP BW, SAP Business Objects/Analytics Cloud, and SAP Data Services/Business Technology Platform.
This data engineering leader will work with Hershey business partners, data scientists, technical engineers, and project managers to ensure engineering standards adhere to company best practice and help to deliver rapid impactful benefits.
Major Duties/Responsibilities:
Delivery:
Lead and manage the development and delivery high-quality data pipelines adhering to best practice, privacy, and governance principles. Prioritize, plan and procure resources for ongoing development and future projects. Manage status communications with Scrum Masters, Product Owners and other internal stakeholders.
Mentoring and Coaching:
Work to provide formal and informal education, development, mentorship to the immediate team, as well as Enterprise Data organization. Manage and coach team members to meet their goals, development plans and career path at Hershey.
Data Engineering Domain:
Collaborate with IT and business partners to define, manage and deliver innovative Data solutions to drive growth and adoption of capabilities at Hershey.
Specific Job Responsibilities:
- Work cross-functionally to design solutions by understanding the business processes, data and requirements
- Partner with Data Architecture and Data Governance to ensure development and solutions are staying current to the policy and standards of Enterprise Data
- Collaborate with the S/4 program to understand the impact to the data ecosystem, knowledge transfer and begin to own the operational aspect of the SAP B4/HANA environment
- Provide the technical leadership to the S/4 program, specifically in the retrofit activities for our legacy applications that integrate with SAP for master data and transactional data
- Works closely with leaders within data engineering, data architecture, data science and domain experts, to build and maintain roadmaps against the IT strategy
- Collaborate with data leaders to build a curriculum for upskilling and conditioning the data engineering competencies
- Partner to deliver a modern data engineering model for SAP BW that follows Dev/Ops principles and standards for continuous integration/ continuous delivery (CI/CD) processes
- Ensure reliability in data and data pipelines, enforcing governance, security, and performance
- Collaborate in developing best in class key performance indicators to measure the performance and quality of the data engineering teams and processes
- Able to articulate the holistic benefits of data engineering from a business perspective, while maintaining the relationship with business analysts, data scientists, technical engineers, and project managers
Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform major duties/responsibilities:

- Experience designing, implementing large scale data pipelines for data curation, feature engineering and machine learning across multiple environments

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Education:
- Bachelor’s in a STEM degree
- Master’s degree and/or related equivalent experience preferred
Experience:
- 3-5+ years of progressive experience working with data, much of which has been focused on working with cross-functional teams and enterprise-wide data management programs
- 5+ years of experience with building and maintaining solutions within a data ecosystem that includes SAP (ECC, S/4) and SAP BW (BW 7.5, B4/HANA)
- 3+ years in-depth knowledge of SAP BW coupled with demonstrable hands-on design/development experience
- 1+ years of experience within the SAP integration technologies and practices (SAP Data Services, Process Orchestration, or Business Technology Platform)
- 1+ years working reporting teams that leverage SAP Business Objects, SAP Analytics Cloud, Power BI or Tableau
- 1+ years leading a technical development team
- Experience in overseeing the development of data solutions within an enterprise environment that follow guiding principles and practices
- Knowledge and experience with relational/non-relational databases e.g., Teradata, Snowflake, Databricks, Azure Data solutions or Hadoop
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate new ideas and concepts to technical and non-technical partners
- Experience leading a project team or project function to deliver an enterprise data, application and/or ERP solution
- Experience with COBIT/SOX, as well as PII data in accordance with relevant laws
