Our customer is a global provider of information-based analytics and decision tools for professional and business customers. They help researchers make new discoveries, doctors and nurses improve the lives of patients, and lawyers develop winning strategies. They prevent online fraud and money laundering and help insurance companies evaluate and predict risk. Their events combine in-person and digital experiences to help customers learn about markets, source products, and complete transactions. In short, they enable customers to make better decisions, get better results and be more productive.

We are seeking a Data Development Engineer on a contract basis to support our Customer’s business needs. This position performs moderate to complex research, design, and software development assignments within a specific software functional area or product line.

What You’ll Do

  • Include extracting, loading, cleansing, translating, manipulating, analyzing, linking, migrating, and indexing massive amounts of data utilizing cutting-edge technology and techniques.
  • Work alongside talented colleagues with a variety of skills and business/industry content knowledge.
  • Collaborate closely with internal business stakeholders and technical teams to deliver a product experience that aims to exceed customer expectations.
  • Write and review portions of detailed specifications for the development of system components of moderate complexity.
  • Complete moderate to complex bug fixes.
  • Work closely with other development team members, Quality Analysts, and Business to understand product requirements and translate them into software designs.
  • Operate in various development environments (Agile, Waterfall, etc.) while collaborating with key stakeholders.
  • Resolve technical issues as necessary.
  • Keep abreast of new technology developments.
  • Make major code design and changes to new & existing products and be a primary point of contact for products they develop or own.

Must Haves

  • 5+ years of Software Engineering experience.
  • 3+ years of strong experience with Unix bash scripting.
  • Proficiency with data manipulation languages – SSIS, Informatica.
  • Ability to work with simple data models.
  • Proficiency in development languages including but not limited to: Python, Java, C/C++, HTML, XML, SQL, Windows, UNIX, and JSON.
  • Familiarity with industry best practices — code coverage.
  • Knowledge of Cloud Technologies – Azure, AWS.
  • Experience working in software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall).
  • Experience working with Git – GitLab/GitHub.
  • Knowledge of test-driven development.
  • Ability and desire to learn new processes and technologies.
  • Basic oral and written communications skills.

Education

  • BS Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent experience required.

Hours & Location:

M-F, 40 hours/week. This role will be remote while COVID restrictions are in place. The expectation is to be onsite at our Customer’s Alpharetta, GA location once it is deemed safe to do so.
