Job Summary
The Actuarial Business Intelligence Analyst is a mid-level position that supports the data, reporting, and business intelligence needs of the Corporate Actuarial department. The individual in this role will execute on business intelligence activities and data projects within Corporate Actuarial with an emphasis on providing insights. While expected to exhibit a significant amount of independence in interacting with business partners and in preparing analyses, the role works under the general direction of their leader.

- Produces accurate and timely insurance policy roll forward (i.e., policy exhibit) and annual statement reporting for internal and external customers.
- Partners with business and IT to produce and maintain accurate policy exhibit data using a variety of corporate software tools.
- Conducts moderately complex SQL and SAS queries and works with other data extraction, reporting and analytic tools to validate and/or develop analysis and reporting to provide insight.
- Partners with business, IT and customers to ensure that the design, execution, presentation, and distribution of actionable insights or data streams can be readily implemented and meets management requirements.
- Collaborates with technical resources, business resources, and business owners to: 1)
- define specific hypothesis/questions to evaluate and analyze, or 2) gather, develop, validate and analyze data and data requirements in support of business operations.
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in economics, quantitative business analysis, applied mathematics, statistics, management information systems, actuarial science, or equivalent experience required.
- 3+ years of experience in financial services and/or research and analytics or 2+ years of experience in the actuarial field.
- Strong business acumen in life insurance and demonstrated understanding of life insurance products preferred
- Intermediate skill in using analytics tools (e.g. Python, R, SQL, SAS) required, mainframe applications in a corporate environment preferred.
- Intermediate skill in design and execution of complex statistical modeling and testing involving linear and non-linear regression techniques (e.g. CHAID, CART, ANOVA, MANOVA, LOGISTIC, TTEST etc.)
- Intermediate skill with data visualization tools (e.g. Power BI) preferred.
- Intermediate skill with relational databases, data warehousing, data mining and OLAP.
- Experience in experimental design and impact assessment.
- Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational, planning and problem-solving skills.
- Able to work with a sense of urgency on multiple projects at the same time.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, within a stated objective.
- Ability to utilize technology to create reports and/or secure information necessary for decision making in a manner that is readily consumable by customers.
