Position Summary:
The OneStream Data Engineer is part of the Strategic Reporting Systems team, which manages the global Enterprise Performance Management solution (OneStream) for Trane Technologies. The team supports over 700 users in consolidated actuals, budgeting, and forecasting processes, as well as the associated financial reporting and data analytics.
The Position is the technical expert for development and enhancement of enterprise Performance management (EPM) dashboards and standard enterprise-wide reports. As the technical expert you will serve as a consultant to the enterprise on dashboard development as well as build dashboards in support of the enterprise conveying leading class business and system operational information in a user-friendly format.
This role will require interaction at all levels including executive leadership within the finance, IT, and business communities. As such, they must exhibit strong collaboration, accounting/financial acumen, and communication skills, and effectively engage with peers.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Design, develop and tune published reports and dashboards in OneStream that convey relevant business information in a user-friendly format
- Advise and train on visualization best practices and performance optimization strategies and collaborate to design impactful dashboards and reports
- Perform development activities from gathering requirements and designing solutions, through developing code/reports, to testing and release/deployment.
- Recommend, add, and create measures and calculations in support of efficient reporting
- Identify and resolve data and/or performance issues related to reports and dashboards
- Identify and implement innovative technologies that enhance the enterprises reporting and dashboarding capabilities
- Support standardization of management reporting
- Recommend leading practice, develop, and maintain technical documentation (including design specifications, guides, and diagrams)
- Own tasks from start through completion and ensure timely completion of projects, and delivery of critical and measurable project objectives
- Communicate effectively upstream to provide timely and accurate information and status updates to the Manager Customer Service and Strategic Reporting
- Providing knowledge transfer and support to other SBU report and dashboard developers, interactors, and viewers
- Other key responsibilities as they are determined and communicated including but not exclusive as development support as bandwidth and workload determines
Skills/Abilities/Experience & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Management Information Systems, or related field required. Graduate degree preferred
- Understanding of financial processes
- 5+ Years relevant experience which include /EPM administration, financial analysis, EPM implementation experience, data visualization
- 3+ years of data visualization, data analytics or dashboard developer experience (OneStream) preferred
- Experience with SQL Development and Visual Basic (VB)
- Firsthand experience with any of the following is preferred: Metadata / Business Rules / data Management / Workflow Profiles
- Thorough understanding of data warehouses and dimensional models
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and projects with varying deadlines
- Ability to prioritize with minimal supervision and interact with employees at all levels
- Self-starter and be able to work independently or as part of a team
- Strong collaborative skills and ability to work in a dynamic fast paced environment
- Extremely strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong oral, interpersonal and written communication skills
- Languages: fluent English required, other language(s) a plus
