Description:

Trinity Health is a large non-profit health system in the country with 88 hospitals with an annual operating revenue of $20.2 billion. Because of our continued growth, we are looking to hire a Data Protection Administrator to join our collaborative team responsible for the protection of the corporate data through backup and replication technologies and software. The Data Protection Administrator is an all-encompassing data protection role that includes management of existing infrastructure as well as new project work in support of new applications, technologies, or hardware lifecycles.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must possess a comprehensive knowledge of data protection applications and object store technologies as normally obtained through a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or five years of data protection and object storage administration experience.
  • Subject matter expert of some of the data protection software, tools or hardware (Avamar, TSM, VTL’s, StorageGRID, TKLM, Networker, etc.)
  • Additional knowledge of server platforms, storage area networking, disk subsystems and network platforms, as normally obtained through work experience is desired.
  • Must possess knowledge of various operating system platforms.
  • Must be comfortable operating in a collaborative, shared leadership environment.
  • Must possess a personal presence that is characterized by a sense of honesty, integrity, and caring with the ability to inspire and motivate others to promote the philosophy, mission, vision, goals, and values of CHE Trinity Health.

What You’ll Do (Responsibilities)

The Data Protection Administrator is a position on an infrastructure team responsible for the projection of Trinity’s data. Using various tools (Dell/EMC Data Protection Suite (Avamar, Networker, PowerProtect, Data Domain) we protect data by having multiple backup copies of the data onsite and offsite to ensure business continuity and disaster recoverability. Additionally, the team supports a large 15PB NetApp StorageGRID for our image object data, so a strong foundation of storage concepts and system administrator skills are important. Specifically you would contribute to our success by:

  • The installation, maintenance and support of the software and hardware associated with data protection. This includes installing and configuring, patching, applying service packs, version upgrades and daily maintenance.
  • Manage backup jobs across multiple platforms and sites.
  • Perform restores to recover data both for business continuity and disaster recovery.
  • Monitor and review Trinity’s ticketing system (ServiceNow) queues for incidents and requests and process as needed to comply with service level requirements.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation for 24x7x365 support of our environments.
  • Work independently and with the team to analyze, triage and work to resolve complex issues and problems that impact our environments and backup success.
  • Create and maintain documentation

Experience

What we’re looking for:

  • At least 3 years working with Dell/EMC Avamar.
  • Experience with other Dell/EMC backup products a plus: Networker, PowerProtect, ProtectPoint, Data Domain.
  • At least 3 years SAN/Storage related experience (Dell/EMC Isilon, Dell/EMC Unity, NetApp StorageGRID (S3)).
  • Able to work fluently in Windows and UNIX/Linux operating systems.
  • Able to work fluently in VMware virtual infrastructure environments.
  • Solid understanding of data protection concepts and best practices.
  • Solid understanding of ethernet and fiber channel networking concepts.
  • Solid understanding of NAS and DFS concepts.
  • Experience in other data protection or archive technologies a plus.
  • Above average proficiency in Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.

Education

  • Outstanding organizational and time management skills with the ability to multi-task and meet demanding timelines.
  • Demonstrates strong analytical problem-solving ability.
