About the role:
The Lead Data Warehouse Engineer serves as the technical lead on the Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence team. The lead engineer will be responsible for implementing strategies for enterprise data warehouse including robust data pipeline design and build as well as data modeling to effectively support enterprise wide analytics needs using AWS technologies: Redshift, PostgreSQL, S3, Lambda and Python along with data integration and data visualization/analytics tools.
What You’ll Do:
- Collaborate with product/business stakeholders, architects, engineering teams and analytics teams to build accurate, timely and actionable information products
- Work with business users and analytic leaders to build out analytics data model/schema for faster and accurate data analytics
- Design/develop high performance, resilient and reusable data pipeline using ELT/ETL
- Work with real-time data streams & API’s from multiple internal/external sources
- Discover, evaluate, and qualify new technologies to establish and maintain policies, procedures, operational standards around the ETL/ELT and Redshift for Data warehouse.
- Ensure smooth ongoing operations of data warehouse and data pipeline platform with high availability and performance while making continuous improvements and leverage best practice and features of the technical stack offers.
- Provide scalable and reusable solutions to manage large imports and implement operational procedures to meet data SLAs.
- Responsible for Redshift Database Administration responsibilities: workload management, query prioritization and optimization, capacity planning, designing and creating database objects and other administration tasks.
- Manage database workloads i.e., Data integration, Workflow orchestration, and Analysis.
- Provide production support on a rotating basis
What you’ll need:
- 8+ years of experience designing and delivering large scale, 24-7, mission-critical data pipelines and features with at least 3 years of using modern big data architectures
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in Python
- 3+ years of experience working in Redshift/Big Query/Snowflake and AWS Lambda equivalent
- Strong understanding of ETL processing design with large data stores
- Strong data modeling skills (relational, dimensional and flattened) and analytical SQL skills, with attention to detail
- Strong knowledge of BI best practices, relational structures, dimensional data modeling, structured query language (SQL) skills, data warehouse and reporting techniques
- 3+ years of DBA experience managing large data warehouse
- Experience working with analytical presentation layers such as Dashboards, Reporting is a plus.
- BA/BS in related field, or equivalent experience
Nice to have:
- Experience integrating data from multiple data sources and file types such as JSON and Avro formats.
- Experience in Tableau or Microstrategy
- Knowledge working with git or any other version control system
- Experience working in Agile environment
