Technical Operations/Maintenance
Technical Operations includes the maintenance, and overhaul of our aircraft. This includes aircraft maintenance technicians, engineers, planners, ground equipment and facilities teams, supply chain teams and more.
Job overview and responsibilities
The Technical Operations Analytics team is looking for a passionate Analyst to turn data into information and information into insight to drive business decisions. The group strives to get the right work done on the right aircraft at the right location at the right time. To do this, we partner with business owners to pursue analytical opportunities within different operational areas.
We are seeking creative, driven, and detail-oriented individuals who enjoy tackling complex problems quantitatively. Individuals who have a desire to improve the performance of United’s fleet and maintenance operation are encouraged to apply.
- Mine data and provide accurate information, identify key issues and trends, apply rigorous analysis
- Review existing reports, dashboards, and performance indicators to modify, enhance, and develop new reports and metrics
- Extract data from a variety of sources for use in analysis and models
- Complete ad-hoc reporting and data analysis
- Continuously develop and demonstrate improved analysis methodologies
- Prepare and deliver presentations on operational performance to organizational leaders
This position is offered on local terms and conditions. Expatriate assignments and sponsorship for employment visas, even on a time-limited visa status, will not be awarded.
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field like Math, Statistics, Operations Research, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field required
- At least 2-4 years of analytics experience required, including manipulating and analyzing complex, high-volume, high dimensionality data from various sources to highlight patterns and relationships
- Understanding of data structures, relationships, and efficient transformations
- Knowledge and application of data visualization best practices
- Familiarity with writing complex queries and procedures using both traditional and modern technologies/languages (i.e. SQL, Python, Spark, etc.)
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
- Data visualization skills using one or more reporting tools (i.e. Spotfire, Tableau, ggplot2, etc.)
- Exposure to statistical and analytical methods
- Must be legally authorized to work in India for any employer without sponsorship
- Must be fluent in English (written and spoken)
- Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
- Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
Preferred
- Master’s Degree in a quantitative field
- Airline experience or knowledge of airline operations
- Familiarity with various parts of the data ecosystem (acquisition, engineering, storage, management, analysis, visualization, and deployment)
- Experience with predictive modeling, statistical modeling, optimization or test design
- Familiarity with JavaScript, D3, HTML, CSS
