Primary Responsibilities

  • Maintain and create data processes for government programs to support various data needs. This can include data ingestion with SSIS and/or Cloud data movement tools, transforming data with SQL Server stored procedures and/or Cloud ELT tools and sending data to various destinations such as the Cloud (Snowflake) as defined in requirements
  • Create and maintain data architecture to support technology implementation of highly complex clinical-based data projects for government programs
  • Gather requirement specifications from business stakeholders and offer guidance on architecture and technology implementation
  • Work concurrently on several projects, each with specific instructions that may differ from project to project
  • Document, discuss and resolve business, data, and reporting issues within the team, across functional teams, and with business stakeholders
  • Continually look for ways to eliminate/reduce, streamline, automate and optimize
  • Attention to detail and quality enabling:
  • Consistent unit testing prior to QA review
  • Documenting SQL queries and processes
  • Documenting ETL/ELT processes

Required Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a master’s degree in data science, computer science, engineering, information systems, statistics or related field
  • Must be actively enrolled in an accredited university for the duration of the internship
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship, now or in the future, for employment-based work authorization (F-1 students with practical training and candidates requiring H-1Bs, TNs, etc. will not be considered)
  • Full COVID-19 vaccination is an essential job function of this role. Candidates located in states that mandate COVID-19 booster doses must also comply with those state requirements. UnitedHealth Group will adhere to all federal, state and local regulations as well as all client requirements and will obtain necessary proof of vaccination, and boosters when applicable, prior to employment to ensure compliance. Preferred Qualifications

  • Relational database experience writing T-SQL queries and stored procedures (preferably with MS SQL Server)
  • SSIS ETL tool experience
  • Experience working with Cloud technologies; Snowflake and Azure. Experience designing and building core data models across our Snowflake instance. Familiarity with cloud transformation, data movement and CI/CD tools
  • Experience and knowledge of data architecture and building datasets with emphasis on sourcing, transformation, and analytics through the entire project lifecycle
  • Experience using Python for data movement and data manipulation
  • Healthcare industry experience
  • Experience working with PHI and in a HIPAA compliant environment.
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum project management methodology and Agile tools

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The hourly range for Colorado residents is $31.78 to $56.88. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
