Analytics, Institutional Research, & Effectiveness (AIRE) seeks a research analyst to complete required reporting and provide analytical support to university management in a variety of subject areas. This position is part of the Official Reporting team and will report to the assistant director for that area.
The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, resourceful, and able to effectively work both collaboratively and independently. They will have strong communication and organizational skills, completing tasks that require significant attention to detail.

Job Description
60% – External / Official Reporting
- Prepares data submissions for the federal government, the Kansas Board of Regents, AAUDE, external surveys, and others across a spectrum of areas (e.g., student, HR, financial, etc.).
- Utilizes multiple technology applications including SAS, SQL, or data visualization tools to collect and analyze data and to prepare/present results.
- Assists with the development of web-based reports, queries, infographics, etc.
- Responds to external requests for data or analyses utilizing existing data sources when possible and querying databases as needed.
- Reviews data submissions and other official reports for accuracy and consistency; as needed, enters data in online or other systems with a high level of accuracy.
- Works collaboratively with other university offices to complete official reports and submissions.
20% – University Decision Support
- Assists in the preparation of quantitative and qualitative studies including design, data validation and report creation.
- Handles ad hoc data requests from other offices.
10% – Administrative
- Provides support for departmental staff, departmental leadership, and university committees as needed.
10% – Other duties as assigned
Position Requirements
- This position may work a hybrid arrangement in which incumbent works on campus and remote based on a set departmental schedule OR fully remote (telework).
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree OR associate’s degree and two (2) years of related experience OR a high school diploma and four (4) years of related experience.
- Two (2) years of experience analyzing and/or presenting data to help inform decision-making (report generation, dashboard development, etc.).
- Two (2) years of experience with databases, Excel, or other data manipulation toolsets.
- Strong communication and interpersonal communication skills, as evidenced by application materials and interview process.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree.
- One (1) or more years of professional experience in higher education.
- One (1) or more years of experience using data visualization tools such as Oracle Analytics Cloud (OAC) or Tableau.
- One (1) or more years of experience programming / conducting analyses using SAS software and/or SQL.
- Exceptional time management skills, including the ability to adapt quickly to shifting priorities while managing multiple projects and deadlines.
