Job Location: Rosemont, IL
The Senior Manager, Data Science, is responsible for providing decision support across multiple business functions while partnering with leadership within the Insights and Analytics organization. This role will leverage your in-depth knowledge of mathematical and statistical modeling techniques and innovative/quantitative analytical approaches to develop โtest-and-learnโ approaches that align with the businessโs larger objectives, facilitate the drawing of conclusions, and make actionable recommendations that answer business objectives. You will lead Data Scientists in the development of AI/ML products which utilizes your experience in forecasting, optimization, NLP and more. The key to success of the Sr. Data Science Manager role is the ability to provide a forward-looking perspective that enables Sales leadership to make key business decisions. This role is responsible for building and supporting a range of analytical and predictive modeling products that drive strategic objectives and improves operational performance.
Analytics and Solution Development
- Leads development and implementation of analytical strategies to deliver analyses and recommendations that enable business functions to make informed decisions
- Leverages business/analytical knowledge to participate in discussions with cross-functional teams to understand and collaborate on business objectives and influence solution strategies
- Applies innovative and scientific/quantitative analytical approaches to draw conclusions and make actionable recommendations that answer business objectives
- Integrates and manipulates disparate data sources and determines the appropriate data hygiene techniques to apply
- Thoroughly documents assumptions, methodology, validation, and testing
- Understands and adopts emerging technology that can affect the application of scientific methodologies and/or quantitative analytical approaches to problem resolutions
- Delivers analysis/findings in a manner that conveys understanding, garners support for recommendations, drives business decisions, and influences business strategy
Strategy, Process and Tools
- Identify opportunities to standardize processes through analytics and tools
- Support integration of strategies, analytics, processes, and tools
- Develop and refine core best practices to enhance the influence of Insights & Analytics across the organization
- Serve as SME on customer data, segmentations, and data assets
Travel
Available for occasional travel as business requires (less than 5% of time)
Supervision
- Direct supervision of up to 3 Data Science Managers or Data Scientists providing specific and balanced feedback. Coaches team with input from stakeholders and provides performance input
Relationships
- Reports directly to the Sr. Director/Director, Insights and Analytics.
- Collaborates with other Sr. Manager/Manager(s) to drive alignment and cross-product team delivery

Qualifications:
- Masters or PhD in Data Science, Machine Learning, Operations Research, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field
- 6+ years of experience as a Data Scientist and knowledge of working with Python, Big Data technologies, developing end-to-end ML solutions, and productionizing the models.
- 6+ years of experience applying various machine learning techniques, and understanding the key parameters that affect their performance; experience in Food Distribution, Retail, CPG or related industries is a plus
- 3+ years demonstrated successful experience managing direct reports
- 3+ years incorporating Auto ML/AI solutions in a cloud-based environment (AWS, Azure or Google), using their suite of products to productionalize, develop and host web applications for business consumption
- Have a history of building systems that capture and utilize large data sets to provide forecasting solutions and recommendations that optimize business processes
