Job Location: Schaumburg, IL
The Senior Cloud Administrator / Engineer works with our architecture team to learn more about expectations, and additionally will work with our Enterprise Security, Networking, Dev/Ops, and other IT teams to learn and assist where needed relative to managing our AWS Cloud environments. There is also the opportunity to cross train with the Cloud and Big Data team to expand your skills over time. We are seeking a person who has passion for the cloud, understands standard Change Management practices, who has an interest in building their career while learning new things and expanding their skillset along the way.
Location Note
This position can be performed remotely in a work from home arrangement, within the United States.
Essential Functions
- Collaborate with the Architecture, Data Governance, Data Privacy, Data Integration, Engineering and Development during architecture and solution discussions related to Cloud technologies
- Assist with the administration, maintenance, automation, troubleshooting, and training of others on the cloud solutions
- Participate in technical roadmap sessions for Cloud & Big Data technologies
- Participate in creating and ensuring compliance to Cloud related standards
- Build relationships with the Architecture, Data Governance, Data Integration, Engineering and Development teams to represent these teams in architecture and solution discussions related to Cloud & Big Data technologies
- Leverage standards and automation to enable developers becoming self-sufficient where possible
- Lead small-medium team projects following our project management processes
- Execute lifecycle management activities (upgrades and patching to stay current and supported)
- Develop and expand your skills with automation tools to enable developers becoming self-sufficient where possible
- Participate in analyzing incoming use cases and help your team to develop and implement a robust solution to meet business needs
- Monitor and optimize performance. Drive proactive measures to track and address performance and capacity issues before our users experience it
- Stay current with the industry best practices for the technologies we support
- Conduct approved delegated technical activities from various IS and ENG teams as it pertains to Cloud or Big Data solutions; this may include but not limited to Networking, Server, Storage activities
Required Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or related discipline, or equivalent work or military experience
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years in a Cloud administration function with AWS / Azure / GCP
- 5+ years of experience with Cloud related principles, practices, and procedures
- Understand the needs of our customers and help to translate these to technical requirements
- Exposure with Agile methodologies including Scrum
- Willing to prepare and present technical presentations
- Ability to develop and maintain process workflows
- Ability to use Jira to drive or update project activities
- Understanding of cloud-native AWS services and moving applications to the cloud and supporting them
- Experience with functional programming (Scala, Python, Terraform)
