What you ll be doing…
Data Governance and Architecture team establishes the data management policies, processes, and enabling technologies necessary to ensure data is Trusted, Available, and Protected to service the needs of customers, employees, business stakeholders. Its objective is to position Verizon to act faster, more effectively, and efficiently in a dynamic business with cost-effective data resources managed as enterprise assets. It drives 5 key outcomes, data is easy to find, data is of high quality and trusted, data is a shared reusable asset, data environment follows a well-designed blueprint and we enable Verizon to extract maximum value from data.
We are looking for Big Data Architect who has experience in building and operating Big Data and Cloud solutions especially Data lakes, Data warehouses, Data Lakehouses with a proven track record in driving business success by architecting, designing, adapting, and applying big data strategies and architectures specifically from governance and attribute-based access point of view. Assist with technology roadmaps, documenting best practice gaps with precise steps of how to get there. You will ensure that each new iteration of functionality conforms to best practices, which demonstrate easily understood business value, and that design impacts are fully understood across all dimensions of our operation.
- Drive the technical design of large-scale data platforms, utilizing modern and open source technologies, in a hybrid cloud environment.
- Set standards and processes for ensuring a global delivery model in a complex cloud-based hybrid setup and governing the compliance of architecture defined by the data engineering teams.
- Design templates for the data management program which are scalable, repeatable, and simple.
- Design and build modular software components that can be used by less senior developers.
- Collaborate across other technical and business teams to understand the technical requirements and ensuring they are addressed as part of the design and architecture.
- Work with the enterprise architecture team to drive design/approach reviews, POC outcomes to get their buy-in to move ahead on the proposed design.
- Work with platform teams to ensure the platforms are set up in the right way from a governance and global delivery perspective.
- Serve as a consultant and leader on all aspects of a modern and flexible SDLC approach, applied to data governance, engineering, analytics, and data science efforts.
- Mentor technical team members and junior architects.
- Consult on complex data governance and engineering efforts and leading project teams through the solution design process.
- Research, evaluate, and formally recommend third-party software and technology package.
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies and projects in the modern data management/engineering space.
What we re looking for…
You are a mentor and a good team player with good interpersonal skills. You can understand the business requirements and translate them to technical and data governance requirements and design solutions/architectures for the same.
You will need to have:
- Bachelor s degree with four or more years of work experience.
- Six or more years of relevant work experience.
- Strong Google Cloud Platform knowledge along with hands-on experience of working on GCP Storage, Big Query and Data Proc.
- Knowledge of Big data and Data Warehousing concepts and implementation of data governance on the same.
- One or more years of experience of working Apache Ranger, Apache Knox, and other authentication, authorization, and data access management tools for attribute level access management.
- Knowledge of the other Big data and Cloud Products and how to compare the capabilities and identify fit-for-purpose solutions.
Even better if you have:
- Five or more years of relevant work experience in Big Data Cloud Data governance.
- Understanding of Telecom domain.
- Design an operating model that fosters reuse and sharing of Reusable assets.
- Strong problem solving, analytical, and research capabilities.
- Strong verbal and written communication.
- Experience presenting to and influencing functional leaders
