Job Responsibilities
As a member of the Data Center Operations & Engineering (DCOE) team you will be responsible for many data center facilities around the world, with an emphasis on one. These facilities will be supporting our Satellite services network, Corporate services, as well as some of our government customers! The DCOE team is responsible for managing the relationship of our Colocation providers, ensuring we have the network connections, power, cooling, and capacity needed to deliver services to our customers.
As part of this team, you will also be responsible for racking equipment, maintaining a standardized cabling and labeling system, coordinating with various project managers on implementation schedules, inventory management, provisioning/decommissioning, and providing remote hands support for all the engineering and IT teams. You will be responsible for the health, care, and feeding of all IT Data Center equipment (servers, storage arrays, network gear, etc.).

Requirements
  • 4-8 years of relevant experience
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Knowledge of assembling, deploying, and troubleshooting server hardware
  • Strong customer service demeanor and interpersonal skills.
  • Prior work with installing, modifying, and troubleshooting server operating systems and other software
  • Experience with and working understanding of best practices of data center management, network topography/ protocols,
  • Experience with and working understanding of data center and equipment cooling, electrical systems, power deployment, and usage
  • Solid understanding of internet-related technologies and protocols
  • US Citizenship is required

At Viasat, we consider many factors when it comes to compensation, including the scope of the position as well as your background and experience. For Colorado-based jobs only: The minimum for this position is $85,150 annually; however, base pay may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Additional cash or stock incentives may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
