The ideal candidate has strong technical foundation in Big Data and have a good written and verbal communication skills. The ideal candidate has experience building modern data insights application both on premise and in the Cloud scaled for adhoc access by multiple users, is passionate about performance, testability, and maintainability, cares about quality of code, and loves to learn new technologies. A substantial portion of work will involve Data Analysis.
- Define and deliver high quality code for features and bug fixes working independently
- Enhance and support production systems
- Follows established software development guidelines and Visa security standards
- Build and maintain relationships with the agile team, the user community, architects, and support teams to understand requirements and implement effective solutions
- Work closely with the development team to implement the required solutions following agile practices
- Identify opportunities for further enhancements and refinements to standards and processes
- Keep up with industry in terms of technology and best practices and help drive innovation internally.
- Support and coach junior engineers.
- Conduct Data analyses involving string manipulation, fuzzy matching multiple data sets without common key.
- Identify and investigate data inconsistencies by relating analysis results with card ecosystem usage and practices for example, multiple users of the same credit card.
This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office two days a week, Tuesdays and Wednesdays with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% of the time based on business needs.
Qualifications
6 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor s Degree in Computer Science or at least 2 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 0 years of work experience with a PhD
4+ years working with Big Data technologies such as Hive, YARN and Spark
Must have experience pulling data using SQL and/or BI tools like MSTR, Power BI or Tableau.
Excellent Java or Python programming skills with concentration on Data Science applications like string manipulation, model building, and clustering.
Strong problem-solving skills.
Experience working in an Agile environment with good software development practices such as CI/CD, code reviews and test automation.
Strong attitude towards getting things done while maintaining regard for code quality
Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
Some familiarity with public cloud technologies such as AWS + Snowflake or Google + BigQuery
Preferred Qualifications
6 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor s Degree or 4 or more years of relevant experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or up to 3 years of relevant experience with a PhD.
Excellent troubleshooting skills.
Familiarity with payment ecosystem open or closed loop or any business to consumer economic models.
Experience with RDBMS and NoSQL databases like MySQL, DB2, Redis and Cassandra.
Experience with public cloud services AWS, Azure and data manipulation technologies like Snowflake.
