About You
- You are a strong communicator and first-principles thinker.
- Volley is a 100% remote team and writing is our primary means of communication. You can talk technical topics without unnecessary jargon. You translate unfamiliar data modeling concepts into approachable ones to team mates and stakeholders with less data experience.
- You have experience implementing and maintaining ETL pipelines from internal and 3rd-party data sources.
- As our founding data engineer, you ll hit the ground running (see your first 90 days below). Some of our main data tools include Outreach, Airtable, Phantombuster, Google Sheets, Databox, and more. Your first project will be architecting and building the volley data lake that will power our entire BDR team.
- You strive to learn about business and product goals
- You get excited about designing data models that create powerful analysis and reporting. You re always asking yourself why we re collecting data in a specific way, and how that data impacts our work.
- You have experience with data modeling
- You understand data warehouse modeling and have a nuanced appreciation for when and where traditional approaches work and when they don t. You have experience developing ETL pipelines to support business data needs.
- You understand that the perfect is the enemy of the good, and default to action.
- You understand the value of shipping MVP code and iterating as needed to get towards better solutions.

Things You ll Do in Your First 90 days
- Hit the ground running, and work closely with our CEO our Director of Data Ops to architect and build ETL/ELT pipelines to ingest and transform data from tools like , Hubspot, and SalesLoft into a data warehouse that powers the entire BDR team.
- Have a heavy hand in data modeling, including designing and expanding dimension and fact tables as we continue to increase the number of different data signals we track monitor.
- Influence the design and build of the Volley Research Platform s (VRP) data model – our internal research and personalization tool.
- Work closely with our leadership team to build and maintain long-term data warehouse/product strategies.
