Position Description
The department of Quality & Engineering, Bangalore is part of global function Group Trucks Operations (GTO) that develops product and process solutions, leading to operational excellence. Q&E Bangalore department consists of Technical Preparation Engineers (TPEs), Software Process Controllers (SWPC), Virtual Manufacturing Engineers (VME) and Diagnostic Engineering & Test Developers (DETD).
We are delivering manufacturing engineering solutions to product projects for different truck product classes within Volvo group. It’s a place where we continuously learn vehicle and manufacturing technologies.

In today’s automotive industries, the amount of virtual simulations, analysis and verifications are increasing during vehicle design and production phases. And it’s a challenge to secure an excellent pro-active quality at the production line by virtually visualizing the production processes and also to identify opportunities to optimize production processes.
We are now looking for a Virtual Manufacturing Engineer (VME) who will develop manufacturing process plans based on plant assembly graphs & resources, perform Assembly Digital Mock Up (ADMU) simulations and support Virtual Build Process reviews to help Manufacturing Engineering community. You will be located at Bangalore office and will be performing VME activities for different truck product classes.
You will be responsible for the creation of process plans for different plants using PPR (product, process and resources) approach, you will work closely with colleagues from production plants and manufacturing engineering. With the virtual simulations, analysis and verifications you will recommend the optimized and efficient processes, tools and methods to the manufacturing community. That means you are an important person to increase efficiency in manufacturing processes during the trucks production.
With a strong collaboration with manufacturing and product development teams, you will be responsible to:
- Develop Product and Process data preparation in Virtual Manufacturing systems
- Perform Assembly Digital Mock Up (ADMU) simulations
- Support Virtual Build Process reviews and managing the issues from the builds
- Promoting usage of Virtual Manufacturing systems in Technical Preparation, developing those systems and their related processes
We want you to have:
- BE/BTech in Mechanical / Electrical engineering degree or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years of automotive experience from engineering or manufacturing involved in Virtual Manufacturing Activities
- Good understanding of vehicle modules structures in CAB, Chassis and Powertrain areas
- Good knowledge of vehicle development Process
Technical competencies:
- PLM system: PTC Windchill
- Simulations systems: PTC CreoView, IPS (Industrial Path Solutions), IC.IDO
- CAD tools: Creo Parametric, Catia V5
- Microsoft tools: Excel, PowerPoint
Manufacturing Engineering competencies:
- Assembly sequence and Optimization
- Product / Process technical knowledge
- CAD Product documentation
- Safety and Ergonomics Assembly Validation
- Tool Selection & Fixture Evaluation Knowledge
Engineering competencies:
- PLM Data management for Manufacturing (eBOM, mBOM, Process Plans)
- Volvo Engineering Database and Product Documentation Management: EDB, KOLA
- Vehicle Development Process
