This is the opportunity to get in early with a stealth health & wellness project currently incubating in Walmart’s Store N o 8. At Store N o 8, the team will discover and deliver the insights that will power the future of healthcare for our customers, through the unparalleled scale of Walmart’s platform. In this role, you will lead the engineering and data science teams, from design to development and production. You will work closely with the core Store N o 8 team and our partners within Walmart.

About The Role
As Distinguished Data Scientist, you will be empowered to build at the speed of a startup with the full support of Walmart’s massive scale and resources.
What You’ll Do
- Leverage your data science expertise to build a source of sustained competitive advantage for Walmart in identifying, integrating, mining, and applying diverse data in service of better health
- Uncover insights for patients/consumers, care givers, and clinicians to optimize care, enable healthy behaviors, and improve health outcomes
- Use data-driven approaches to create novel features, including NLP techniques to derive features from product information
- Apply techniques like Bayesian modeling or market based analysis to identify salient behaviors that may aid in building classification models
- Define a feature selection pipeline by evaluating and combining different techniques including spearman correlation, ANOVA and variation inflation factor
- Drive disciplined and transparent processes to enable efficient model development and validation in support of both product roadmap and novel hypothesis testing
- Investigate semi-supervised learning approaches to deal with noisy datasets for classification models.
- Evaluate strengths and weaknesses of existing and new data sources (including consumer data and healthcare data) and develop an appropriate data science strategy to support insight generation from these data sources
- Partner with internal product team using agile methodologies to deliver models and prototypes in support of the product roadmap
Experience
- MS or PhD in data science, engineering, mathematics, statistics, or computer science
- 6+ years data science experience
- Extensive experience with machine learning and deep learning packages (scikit-learn, lightGBM, Tensorflow or PyTorch)
- Experience with classification problems on imbalanced datasets
- Experience with feature engineering, time series or temporal event sequences, and boosting algorithms
- Experience with ARIMA, LSTMs, and Graph Neural Networks
- Experience writing complex SQL queries to surface insights from vast amounts of data
- Significant programing experience in Python, etc.
- Comfort with implementing algorithms from academic papers
- Practical experience with cloud services (Google Cloud Platform etc.)
- Familiarity with experimentation design or causal inferences
- Experience with relevant data standards, terminologies and vocabularies used in retail and/or healthcare data
- Success in an entrepreneurial environment, ideally within a high growth technology company
- Experience and passion for rapid prototyping and development in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Experience
- Experience with pyCaret and sklearn
- Publications and contribution to external open-source projects
- Agile experience with emphasis on rapid prototyping
- Understanding of container technologies like Kubernetes

The annual salary range for this position is $208,000.00-$300,000.00
Additional Compensation For Certain Positions May Also Include
Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance incentives.
