Position Summary…

What you’ll do…

As part of Walmart’s Content-to-Commerce team, you will be building highly scalable and reliable data-driven models, pipelines and applications which will drive the next generation of affiliates, open-API and social commerce experiences. You’ll independently handle high impact, critical software/systems monitoring issues, troubleshoot business and production issues. As a member of this fast-moving and highly entrepreneurial team, you’ll be able to say that you work for the world’s largest retailer and contribute to innovation and development to best-in-class methodologies that impacted perception and drastically changed business as we know it.

You’ll sweep us off our feet if…

Have a MS in relevant technical degree (preferably Computer Science, Machine Learning, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Operations Research, etc.) with 4+ years of work experience

  • Experience designing large scale scalable machine learning models.
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: machine learning, recommendation systems, pattern recognition, data mining or artificial intelligence
  • Experience in building data products and crunching terabytes of data
  • A good portfolio of machine learning projects with a significant impact on the bottom line
  • Familiarity with Deep Learning
  • Blog posts, papers or conference talks showing your involvement in the community
  • Strong software development skills in languages such as Python, SQL, R, Scala, Java.
  • Experience using open source frameworks (e.g.: Scikit Learn, TensorFlow, Keras, PyTorch, etc.)
  • Have expertise in one or more of the following areas: Natural Language Processing, Information Retrieval, Computer Vision, Reinforcement Learning, and Machine Learning
  • Strong abilities in statistical methods and advanced modeling techniques (e.g., XGBoost, Bayesian inference, Neural Networks, Graphical Models, SVM, Random Forest, NLP, Computer Vision, neural networks etc.)
  • Experience with open-source recommendation tools, e.g. TensorFlow Recommenders, TensorFlow Ranking.
  • Familiarity and ideally experience with more recent deep ML models and NLU (e.g., Transformers, BERT, Electra, T5).

  • Ability to develop experimental and analytic plans for data modeling processes, use of strong baselines, ability to accurately determine cause and effect relations
  • Strong attention to detail and exceptional level of organization
  • Proven ability to achieve results in a fast paced, highly collaborative, dynamic work environment
  • Hands-on expertise in many disparate technologies and the full model lifecycle, typically ranging from data pipelines, data extraction, model training, model serving, labeling tools, ML-ops, ad-hoc tooling, and all points in between.
  • MS/PhD in a relevant field (Machine Learning, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, or a related field)
