About The Team
At Walmart’s Emerging Tech Cortex AI team, we work on cutting edge Deep learning algorithms and Machine learning architectures for next generation store experiences. We are building innovative solutions using computer vision, multimodal learning and natural language understanding to make inferences on text, image and video data that drive immediate business impact. We are looking for Applied Scientists and researchers with algorithms, programming and/or systems background.
Responsibilities:
- Process large scale Walmart datasets using distributed cloud computing technologies
- Research, build and maintain Machine learning and Deep learning models, pipelines and services with focus on performance, latency, throughput, and scalability.
- Collaborate with product and engineering to drive system integrations and product ionization aspects of the technology.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Computer Science with specialization in computer vision and/or machine learning or equivalent practical experience.
- 3 years of experience with machine learning algorithms and tools (e.g., TensorFlow, Pytorch, JAX), artificial intelligence, deep learning, computer vision, multimodal learning and/or natural language processing.
- Experience in C++ and/or Python.
- Experience in developing ML/Deep Learning models for computer vision.
- Experience with publishing at conferences/journals in Machine learning/Computer Vision
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the following programming Languages: Java, Python, Bash, Spark (SQL, Streaming), Hadoop Map-Reduce experience. Build Manager (Maven), Distributed Version Control (GIT), Continuous Integration (Jenkins) experience.
- 1 year of experience in a technical leadership role.
- Experience in launching Machine Learning models in products and building production pipelines/services.
- Experience with standard ML frameworks and ramp up on new ones as needed.
- Experience leading an impactful project on one of the following topics: object detection and tracking, large scale image classification, metric learning, text understanding from images, multimodal embeddings for visual search, video activity detection and recognition.
- Industry experience in the field of computer vision and machine learning.
- Few-shot learning, transfer learning, unsupervised and semi-supervised methods, active learning, weakly supervised auto labeling, semantic search index.
- Experience with influencing or technology leading an applied research project.
