About the Division:
The Information Technology Division (ITD) exists to leverage technology to enhance and sustain business processes, public safety infrastructure, and statewide emergency communications to facilitate the accomplishment of all agency goals.
The IT Planning Section provides expert level technology planning and project management leadership, consultation, and delivery to create the agency’s technology roadmap and Division Technology Plans (DTP). This section also plans and manages technology projects to meet WSP’s largest and most complex enterprise automation and technology infrastructure needs, and develop continuity of operations plans that support the agency’s essential information technologies.
About the position:
This position works closely with the WAJIS team, the W3 and ACCESS/SAFE supervisors, system support staff and customers to identify and document system change requirements. Documentation includes specifications for vendors, test plans and testing outcomes, technical process documentation, and flow and procedure documents.
Responsibilities Include:
- Assist the existing Business Analyst with the development of specifications, user stories, and related documentation and diagrams to provide to WAJIS application support vendors
- Provide business analysis and problem assessment services for the customers and stakeholders of WAJIS applications
- Thoroughly test and validate application modifications, process flow changes, and codes and supporting table updates before moving changes to production
- Provide support to customers of the criminal history and crime information center applications
The Washington Justice Information Systems (WAJIS) section of ITD is dedicated to the support of the Criminal Records Division (CRD) business functions. CRD is responsible for the state-wide applications supporting Criminal History Records (WASIS), the Washington State Crime Information Center (WACIC) the State law enforcement message switch (ACCESS) which links state law enforcement agencies to the FBI and interstate data sources, and the ancillary systems supporting these core applications. All of these systems service internal WSP customers and external customers including in-state and national members of the criminal justice community and the public. This position supports the system by providing basic business analysis, impact analysis, and testing services.
- High school graduation, GED, or equivalent education.
- Must obtain and maintain a valid, unrestricted Washington State driver’s license
- Associates degree (2 Years) and 2 years work experience or Bachelors degree (4 years) Or
- Four (4) years experience in developing application specifications, testing application functionality, and documenting issues
- Four (4) years experience using or supporting criminal justice information systems such as criminal history, court case management, or law enforcement case management systems
Top Candidates will have the following experience:
- Associates degree or Bachelors degree in related IT field, or equivalent years of experience working in an IT setting providing technical support
- Two (2) years of experience using SQL to query and manipulate information in a relational database
- Project management fundamentals class work or experience as a member of a project team for an application development or replacement process
