About this role:

The Enterprise Functions Technology (EFT) group provides technology solutions and support for Risk, Audit, Finance, Marketing, Human Resources, Corporate Properties, and Stakeholder Relations business lines. In addition, EFT provides unique technology solutions and innovation for Wells Fargo Technology, Enterprise Shared Services, and Enterprise Data Management. This combined portfolio of applications and tools are continually engineered to meet the challenges of stability, security, scalability, and speed.

Within EFT, the Human Resource Information Technology (HRIT) team provides technology support for team member focused applications and processes, including payroll, benefits, learning and recruiting. We are seeking a Lead Data Engineer who will act as technical lead for the HR data warehouse team.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead complex initiatives with broad impact and act as key participant in large scale software planning for the Technology area
  • Design, develop, and run tooling to discover problems in data and applications and report the issues to engineering and product leadership
  • Review and analyze complex software enhancement initiatives for business, operational or technical improvements that require in depth evaluation of multiple factors including intangibles or unprecedented factors
  • Make decisions in complex and multi-faceted data engineering situations requiring understanding of software package options and programming language and compliance requirements that influence and lead Technology to meet deliverables and drive organizational change
  • Strategically collaborate and consult with internal partners to resolve highly risky data engineering challenges
  • Drive technical direction across two HR Data Services teams
  • Partnership with data engineering leadership and architecture
  • Collaborate with HR Data Services product owner to maintain product roadmap
  • Mentor more junior resources on HR Data Services team
  • Partner with tech lead on offshore HR Data Services team to ensure consistency and quality
  • Maintain automated deployment through enterprise pipeline process
  • Development work supporting stories in the backlog


Required Qualifications, US:

  • 5+ years of Database Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 5+ years of experience in a data warehouse environment
  • 2+ years of data modeling experience
  • 2+ years of experience working in Agile methodology


Desired Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience with Workday HCM
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • A BS/BA degree or higher
  • Knowledge and understanding of HR technology solutions, products and requirements
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to manage effectively in virtual environment where key team members and partners are in various time zones and locations
  • Ability to take initiative, identify opportunities and implement change
  • DataVault 2.0 experience
  • Experience in a role as a manager, team lead or tech lead
