Purpose of consultancy
- To coordinate and perform research in a technical area of work related to Readiness Assessment and Prioritization within the Department of Country Readiness Strengthening.
- The consultancy focuses on the development of country pages for FCV countries in the Platform. These pages will summarize guidance and up to date readiness intelligence in addition to providing analytics and visuals.
Deliverables
- Contribute to the development and implementation of country readiness assessments and prioritization in the context of health emergency preparedness and operational readiness for COVID-19 and imminent threats under the guidance of the Unit Head and Technical Leads. 2 April 2022
- Manage overall the creation of the country readiness assessment pages on the Partners Platform and perform quality checks on all data coming into these pages. 2 April 2022
- Provide technical input and contribute to the development of country readiness guidance. 2 April 2022
- Analyze and create visualizations of data gathered for the country readiness assessments and prioritizations, in combination with information available on the Partners Platform. 2 April 2022
- Contribute to the coordination and maintenance of donor and partner contribution activities within the Partners Platform through updating the database of donor contribution activities on the Partners Platform for funding activities for emergency preparedness, and through direct interaction with donors and other stakeholders to keep them updated on Partners Platform activity.
- Conduct research on Partners Platform activity, based on the research aims of the Partners Platform technical team.
- Ensure the quality, completeness, and timeliness of data coming into the Partners Platform.
Qualifications, experience, skills and languages
Educational Qualifications:
Essential:
- First university degree in information or data management, computer sciences, statistics, epidemiology, applied math or public health, complemented by training in databases development and/or management from an accredited/recognized institute.
Desirable:
- Prior emergency disaster and health outbreak response or humanitarian working experience at field level, with WHO/UN agencies, health cluster partners, recognized humanitarian organizations or with an international nongovernmental organization.
Experience
Essential:
- A minimum of 5 years experience conducting research.
Desirable:
- Experience in health activities and programmes of the WHO in country, regional, or central levels.
Skills/Knowledge:
- Familiarity with the Partners Platform and its goals.
- Keen analytical skills and ability to monitor and evaluate methodologies and information.
- A solid understanding of the Country Readiness Strengthening department and its mandate.
- Ability to formulate research questions and conduct research independently.
- Ability to formulate technical reports and other communications with appropriate level of technical content in precise and concise manner.
- Strong organizational and persuasive skills, ability to use participatory approaches in their contact with external parties and stakeholders.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
- Demonstrated knowledge and ability to work in a multi-disciplinary environment, coordinate multi-sectoral stakeholders and accomplish tasks with multiple objectives.
- Demonstrated ability to work constructively with people with different backgrounds and orientations. Respect for differences and ensures that all can contribute.
- Strong computer skills in office applications including Excel, Powerpoint, and Word
- Strong analytics and visualization skills in a programming language (eg: R, Python)
Languages required:
Essential:
- Expert knowledge of English.
- Working knowledge of French.
