Overview / Responsibilities:
Wood is currently recruiting for a Business Analyst – Senior with extensive experience in IT.
- Works with Product Owners, SMEs and clients to define and capture requirements and articulate them through User Stories

Collect business requirements using a variety of methods such as interviews, document analysis,
workshops, and workflow analysis to express the requirements in terms of target user roles and goals. - Explore issues or needs, establishing potential causes and barriers as well as related issues
- Provide information and comments on suitability during approval process for database specifications to ensure all agreed standards and protocols are followed and data integrity is preserved
- Support and contribute to the documentation of “as is” and “to be” processes and describe the changes required to migrate to the “to be” capability to record accurately the change required
- Helps Product Owners clarify their vision by clearly articulating the as – is and to – be states in a concise language and translates technical issues for external stakeholders
- Undertakes the product owner role in Scrum teams and works closely with the teams providing guidance and clarification on requirements
- Continually seeks a “fit for purpose” approach to identify the Minimum Viable Product that meets the key requirements and will deliver the required business value, considering making the best us of existing systems.
- Assesses and prioritizes features / stories to determine the minimum set of requirements that can be delivered to satisfy the business need in the shortest time
- Writes, scopes and plans user stories and their acceptance criteria
Skills / Qualifications:
- Tertiary education to degree / recognised certification level in a relevant subject, or equivalent experience
- Knowledge, skills and experience:
- 5+ years experience in a related role
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with ability to listen and break down complex problems from non software technical people.
- Ability to understand and translate a vision of what is required (solution realisation) at all technical levels to set expectation and acceptance criteria.
- Ability to show and tell by using a variety of modelling techniques (whiteboard sketches, wire frames, user stories, mock – ups, glossaries).
- Confidence and ability to support and lead small design thinking sessions.
- Ability to order and prioritise requirements and able to identify the minimum viable product and associate this to project constraints (e.g. budgetary restrictions)
- Ability to identify Project constraints (Licence, budgetary, legal, regulatory compliance etc.)
- Tech Savvy – proven experience as a business analyst for technical software with a serviceoriented attitude and strong analytical and problem – solving skills
- Proven working experience of business analysis and requirement gathering techniques
- Broad awareness and understanding of software and technology infrastructure including web applications, databases, understanding of system integration, web services and networks
- Experience of using issue tracking tools (e.g. JIRA, DevOps etc).
- Organised and methodical, ability to manage own workload and prioritise effectively.
- Flexible, visionary, yet pragmatic and with the ability to pay attention to detail
- Excellent networker who relishes meeting new people and build and leverage personal and professional networks
- Uses initiative and proactively considers new opportunities
