The Role
We’re looking for a dynamic Director of Data Strategy to join our fast-growing Technology team here at Wpromote! In this role, you’ll report directly to the Head of Data Strategy and you’ll lead, own, and evolve Wpromote’s offering for Data Strategy & Analytics services to help all delivery teams get streamlined access to high-quality marketing data that drive game-changing performance for clients in a fraction of the time when compared with industry standards. You’ll also partner with Product to help ideate and prioritize the product roadmap for Polaris to automate aspects of Data Strategy & Analytics services.

The anticipated annual salary for this role will range from $120,000 – $150,000, based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate, including skill set, years and depth of experience, education and certifications, competitive benchmarks, scope of responsibility, market dynamics, geographic location, and the respective state’s salary threshold for exempt employees. At Wpromote, pay ranges are subject to change and are based on specific market medians for similar jobs according to third-party salary benchmark surveys. Individual pay within that range can vary due to skills, experience, and available budget. The total compensation package for this role will include benefits (listed above) and an annual performance bonus.
This role has an associated annual target bonus component which is paid out based on a number of factors which include Company performance, department performance, and individual performance. Bonuses are not guaranteed and you must be an active employee in good standing and not on a Performance Improvement Plan to be eligible for the annual bonus.

You Will Be

  • Partnering with a cross-functional team of exec-level leaders across Data Strategy, Analytics Engineering, Analytics Management, Data Engineering, Data Visualization and Data Analysis
  • Directly overseeing and managing a team of Data Strategy Associate Directors and Managers
  • Overseeing the design and deployment of Data Strategy delivery models, including client onboarding and team management processes for the Data Strategy team
  • Partnering with Data Strategy & Analytics leaders to deliver scalable, high-quality, cross-channel data solutions and service experiences quickly to clients and their teams across Analytics Engineering, Analytics Management, Data Engineering, Reporting Solutions, and Data Analysis
  • Partnering with Data Strategy & Analytics leaders to design processes to efficiently deliver cohesive Data Strategy & Analytics services across technical teams to clients and internal stakeholders from our support queueActing as an escalation point to promptly resolve complex and occasionally unprecedented situations with broad definitions
  • Monitoring billable hours across your client portfolio to ensure Data Strategy & Analytics services are aligned with client contracts
  • Monitoring team bandwidth and new business to advocate for the appropriate amount of staff to effectively service our client portfolio, as well as conducting Data Strategy leadership interviews
  • Educating and training client services and channel departments on Data Strategy & Analytics solutions
  • Pitching new business on the differentiated value of Data Strategy & Analytics services, crafting a consultative sales approach through consulting on prospect MarTech stacks and Polaris solutions
  • Partnering with Product Management to help support client onboarding to Polaris, Wpromote’s proprietary marketing intelligence and automation platform
  • Working closely with the Data Strategy & Analytics team to define and implement optimal processes for project management in Asana and productivity reporting
  • Overseeing the creation of new Asana task templates in partnership with Data Strategy & Analytics leaders to automate aspects of project management and productivity reporting across the team
  • Serving as an executive sponsor and a resource for client-facing delivery on Enterprise clients as needed
  • Provide thought leadership across a variety of Data Strategy focus areas: Customer Data Platforms, Media Strategy & Optimization Methods, Data Privacy Regulations & Data Usage Guidelines, and MarTech Architecture


You Must Have

  • 8+ years of experience working in digital analytics and marketing environment
  • 6+ years of experience working with media data
  • Excellent client-facing experience at a performance marketing agency
  • Demonstrated success in transforming data into actionable insights within the context of performance marketing
  • A strong understanding of marketing and advertising technology platforms including advertising (Google Ads, Facebook Ads, etc.), analytics (Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, etc.), data aggregation, manipulation (dbt), visualization (Funnel, Google Data Studio, Looker, Tableau, etc.), and cloud warehouses (GCP, AWS, etc.)
  • Familiarity with creating and implementing data taxonomy governance best practices across multiple ad platforms
  • Excellent executive-facing communication and presentation skills, with the ability to understand the technical detail behind data utilization for digital marketing and the ability to explain it simply to non-technical audiences
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to work efficiently across multiple teams, clients, and timelines simultaneously


Nice To Have

  • Prior career experience working in a practitioner-level role in one or several of the following disciplines: Analytics Engineering, Analytics Configuration/Management, Data Engineering, Data Visualization, Media Buying, Account Management/Client Services. The more prior experience directly working in these different role types, the better!
  • Former direct experience serving in any role across media buying, client services, analytics engineering, analytics configuration, data visualization, and/or data engineering
  • 3+ years of people management experience, including guiding and mentoring managers to enable a high-performing team and culture
  • Building and implementing standard processes to scale a service operation end-to-end
  • Experience with Media Mix Modeling, Forecasting, Incrementality Testing, or Predictive Analytics
