ROLE SUMMARY
The Manager of Business Intelligence and Decision Support is responsible for implementing actionable insights that drives decision-making. Coordinates data from disparate systems to produce dashboards, scorecards, metrics, and reporting for business operational needs. Provides leadership for the business intelligence function, including managerial oversight of the business intelligence team (hiring, terming, strategic direction, performance evaluation, etc.).
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Designs and manages processes to ensure the accuracy, availability, usability, relevance, and accurate representation of data for decision makers at every entity and at every level of the organization
- Leads the development, build, and maintenance of decision support tools.
- Establishes data governance policies to ensure consistency and reliability of data through organization collaboration.
- Manages a team of analysts who are responsible for collecting, organizing, analyzing, and disseminating significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Leads and/or designs ad-hoc reports that provide actionable and meaningful information to leaders and stakeholders.
- Responds to data requests for information from various departments.
- Works closely with Executive Leadership to prioritize business and information needs.
- Identifies, analyzes, and interprets and leads action gleaned from information pertaining to trends or patterns in complex data sets.
- Leads the analytical and market intelligence functions by preparing market reports to support new business plans and expansion opportunities.
- Provides actionable insight through visualization tools (i.e.. dashboards, scorecards and other tools). Educates and promotes a data-driven culture at every entity and at every level of the organization.
- Attends and participates in department meetings and is accountable for all information shared.
- Works in a highly matrixed reporting structure by building relationships with Information Services and Technology, Finance, Revenue Cycle, Human Resources and other stakeholders.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Health Information Management, Health Informatics, or related field required. Extensive related experience may be substituted in lieu of some education.
Experience: Minimum of five years of experience in Healthcare Analytics, Data Science or Health Information Management required. Previous progressive leadership experience preferred. Previous experience in acute hospital medical records department preferred. Proficiency in SQL and understanding of data modeling concepts preferred.
