The Zillow Analytics organization is passionate about understanding the customer journey on our platforms through deep analysis and measurement. We relentlessly advocate for a seamless and fabulous home shopping experience from dream to reality! The team works closely across the organization to discover strategic opportunities in areas spanning the search and discovery process, membership and re-engagement, evaluation and curation of potential homes, transactional services such as home finance and agent recommendations as well as personalization for both the Zillow and Trulia brands. We scale this work by partnering with engineering teams to build and maintain key analytics tools and infrastructure.
About the role
Zillow is looking for Principal Analyst to join a growing and outstanding analytics group dedicated to excellence within our Zillow Home Lending (ZHL) data science and analytics team. In this role you will:

Lead analytical efforts across the ZHL channel.

Define, measure, and report on success metrics for sophisticated projects and pilots.

Use data to identify significant opportunities for product and operational improvements related to mortgage lending from lead ingestion through post-closing.

Partner with product, marketing, and operations leaders to deliver impactful solutions to business problems that help drive revenue and improve the overall customer experience.

Partner with customers and collaborators to understand and clarify requirements to creatively solve sophisticated business problems with analytic solutions.

Recruit, hire, and mentor outstanding analysts and data scientists.

This role has been categorized as a Remote position. โRemoteโ employees do not have a permanent corporate office workplace and, instead, work from a physical location of their choice which must be identified to the Company. Employees may live in any of the 50 US States, with limited exceptions. In certain cases, an employee in a remote-designated job may need to live in a specific region or time zone to support customers or clients as part of their role.
In Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada and New York City the standard base pay range for this role is $132,400.00 – $211,600.00 Annually. This base pay range is specific to Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada and New York City and may not be applicable to other locations.
In addition to a competitive base salary this position is also eligible for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance and location. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location.

Who you are:

8-10 years of experience in a reporting and analytical role within a mortgage consumer lending organization.

Have a deep understanding of a broad range of business processes and functions that support mortgage origination including sales, operations, finance, compliance and capital markets.

5 years of experience presenting regularly to executive team members (both written and verbal).

Strong bias for action and impact supported by your data insights.
-
Ability to craft and communicate your analytical roadmap and findings to peers and customers.

Strong business acuity, communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally and connect customer problems to business strategy.
-
Expert at applying the โ80/20โ rule and estimating the impact and relative priority of a potential analysis project.

Deep, intuitive understanding of core statistical concepts, such as probability, randomness, correlation and sampling distributions.

Master level (8+ years) skills using SQL, Excel, and Tableau, or other visualization software. Scripting and automation experience is preferred.

Established history of building production, high quality, scalable user reports and dashboards and thoughtfully architecting the underlying data objects that support reporting.

Ability to translate business needs into technical requirements that help data engineers build and enhance a data warehouse.

Experience leading self and mentoring junior data analysts and/or data scientists.
