Data Engineer, Finance

The Data Team empowers data-informed decision-making across Zoom. We know that to deliver customer happiness we need to build best-in-class products. We support this by empowering Products with behavioral insights to help them build better products. While providing these insights, we also need to ensure that we’re meeting the consent, privacy, and regulatory needs of hundreds of millions of users worldwide.
This role will be part of the Finance team and will be collaborating closely with other data analysts, data scientists, and data engineers. The Finance team works cross-functionally with the business stakeholders and Big Data teams to extract insights, build data pipelines, and develop statistical models to better product sales performance, fraud, currency expansion, or payment reconciliation. This role will work closely with the Revenue, Finance, FP&A, and Tax teams to help define, measure, and track success metrics and KPIs for Zoom’s products. The ideal candidate will have experience transforming product KPIs and success metrics into clear, intuitive, and actionable dashboards. The ideal candidate will also have strong Python, Spark, and SQL skills in data definitions, data management, and data querying to translate business logic into performant tables that power dashboards. This role will also involve analyzing data to answer key product and business questions. This individual should demonstrate strong communication skills, collaboration, and intellectual curiosity. Responsibilities

Design, build and maintain ETL/ELT data pipelines.
-
Implement data monitoring, including basic data quality checks.
-
Transform raw data into scalable, performant data models that would be consumed by data analysts and data scientists.

Design, build and update foundational analytics data models that simplify analyses across the products.
-
Implement best practices to ensure high-quality, robust data.
-
Develop, schedule, and monitor production-level DAGs with orchestration software, preferably Airflow
Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science, engineering, mathematics, physics, or related technical discipline
-
Minimum of 5+ (3+ years with a Masters) years experience working in a data engineering role focused on finance analytics

Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
-
Proficient with transactional Python and while not required analytical Python too
-
Advanced SQL ability including dimensional modeling and data model design
-
Proficiency in data principles, system and data architecture, and dimensional data modeling
-
Experience developing orchestration/scheduling jobs (preferably Airflow)

Experience with cloud platforms (preferably AWS) and Spark
-
Analytical problem solving skills

Previous hands professional experience working with finance metrics, data, and systems

Experience with dbt is preferred
