Do you have a desire to make a major contribution to the future in the rapid growth environment of Cloud Computing? Amazon Web Services is adding a Business Intelligence Engineer to its Infra Supply Chain Automation team. This role will help define analytical datasets for the worldโ€™s largest cloud computing infrastructure. In this role, you will develop and support the analytics solutions that give our teams flexible and structured access to their data, including defining metrics KPIs, dataset analysis, report optimization, and report automation. This role will also directly contribute towards reporting progress on our SVP goals for data accuracy and quality.

Our team is part of the AWS Infrastructure organization, which is responsible for planning, building, and operating all of our data centers around the world. This includes the global supply chain for physical servers, components, networking gear, power equipment, etc. Lots of big and fascinating data!

As a BIE, you will operate as the product manager for datasets in this space. You will work with BI tools regularly and partner with business stakeholders and development teams to drive changes within the business. You will also model multidimensional data-sets, and work with customers to answer key business questions. This role is analytical, creative and offers the opportunity to work in an ambiguous and fast-paced environment.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement scalable and reliable analytics, tools, KPI dashboards, and metrics that drive key supply chain, procurement, engineering, and financial decisions
  • Design and implement metrics dashboards to deepen understanding of data quality across our software systems and highlight opportunities for improvement
  • Recognize and use advanced analytical techniques to recommend prescribed/ optimized courses of action to users
  • Employ data mining, segmentation, and other analytical techniques to capture important trends in our data sets
  • Interface with business customers, gathering requirements and delivering complete data products (datasets, visualization and more)
  • Partner with other technology teams to extract, transform, and load data from a wide variety of data sources using SQL, Python, Spark
  • Own the design, development, and maintenance of ongoing metrics, reports, analyses, dashboards, etc. to drive key business decisions.
  • Recognize and adopt best practices in reporting and analysis: data integrity, test design, analysis, validation, and documentation.
  • Continually improve ongoing reporting and analysis processes by automating or simplifying self-service support for customers.
  • Participate in strategic & tactical planning discussions.

  • Master’s degree in Business, Engineering, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics or related field
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in a business analyst/ BIE/ statistical analysis role
  • Strong experience in predictive analytics using machine learning techniques and able to use scripting languages such as Python or R to evaluate data
  • Experience building dashboards, reports, or tools through technologies such as QuickSight, Tableau
  • Strong stakeholder management experience; ability to work cross-functionally and with a wide range of employees with different skill sets
  • Ability to deep-dive into a problem; very strong analytical skills required
  • Very high degree of Ownership and Bias for Action required
  • Ability to thrive and perform in an ambiguous setting; sound judgment and flexibility in balancing program requirements, tight deadlines, and keeping people and projects moving on schedule
