Job summary
The Amazon Web Services (AWS) Threat Intelligence Group (ATIG) is responsible for developing actionable intelligence on significant cyber threats to our services and our customers. We collect indicators and intelligence from a variety of internal and external sources and use that information to develop an understanding of sophisticated actors and their tools, techniques, and procedures. We then leverage that understanding to proactively identify and mitigate malicious activity.

As an Emulated Cyber Threats Analyst, you will leverage your in-depth knowledge of real-world actor tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) to track emulated cyber threat activities by AWS Red Teams and other entities. You will work closely with the Red Teams and AWS Corporate Security (CorpSec) personnel to identify where security controls and detections identified emulated threat activity and where opportunities exist for enhanced protections. Your expertise in advanced actor techniques will also help influence Red Team activities to emulate the activities of real-world threats. In addition, you will script and help automate recurring tasks to improve the overall effectiveness of the team.

Key job responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:

  • Perform deep dive analysis of malicious artifacts related to emulated cyber threats by AWS Red Teams and other entities.
  • Analyze large and unstructured data sets to identify trends and anomalies indicative of malicious activities.
  • Create security techniques and automation for internal use that enable the team to operate at high speed and broad scale.
  • Provide situational awareness on the current threat landscape and the techniques, tactics and procedures associated with specific threats.
  • Use real-world findings to inform Red Team tactics and increase the realism of engagements
  • Periodic on-call responsibilities.
