Job Location: San Francisco, CA
- 3+ years of design, implementation, or consulting experience in applications or infrastructures
- 8+ years within specific technology domain areas (e.g. software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics)
- 7+ years of experience in the design and implementation of complex IT systems
- Current implementation and architecture experience in big data, data warehousing, data lake, operational analytics, data migration, and integration scenarios. (Amazon EMR, Hadoop, Spark, R, Presto, Hive, Amazon Redshift, Teradata, Vertica, Glue, Data Migration Services)
- Experience working with customers and stakeholders and driving outcomes in a pre-sales capacity
- Working knowledge of modern software development practices and technologies such as agile methodologies and DevOps
- Available for travel up to 25%

Job Summary
AWS Specialist Solutions Architects (SSAs) are technologists with deep domain-specific expertise, able to address advanced concepts and feature designs. As part of the AWS sales organization, SSAs work with customers who have complex challenges that require expert-level knowledge to solve. SSAs craft scalable, flexible, and resilient technical architectures that address those challenges. This might involve guiding customers as they refactor an application or designing entirely new cloud-based systems.
Specialist SAs play a critical role in capturing customer feedback, advocating for roadmap enhancements, and anticipating customer requirements as they work backwards from their needs. As domain experts, SSAs also participate in field engagement and enablement, producing content such as whitepapers, blogs, and workshops for customers, partners, and the AWS Technical Field.
Specialist Solutions Architects combine technical skills in analytics, business acumen, and technical sales skills. They are focused on supporting customers throughout the engagement lifecycle and work closely with the teams that support implementation including AWS Professional Services and Partners. SSAs unblock customers and help them get to production faster. Team Section
The WWSO Analytics team positions AWS as the best place to run the full spectrum of Analytics workloads, including big data solutions, data warehouses, ETL, streaming, and search solutions. The team works closely with customers to provide a secure, reliable, and scalable analytics solutions, as well as help customers migrate analytics to the AWS cloud. As a Specialist Solutions Architect on the Analytics team, you will own technical engagements, define implementation architectures, and be an analytics subject-matter-expert for customer solutions and technical architectures. Solution Architects work closely with engineering teams to advocate on behalf of customers, provide product improvement feedback to AWS developers, and accelerate the adoption of new features for customer deployments. By working backwards from customer outcomes, you will architect analytics solutions in the data and analytics domain, share best practices through forums such as AWS blogs, whitepapers, reference architectures, and attend public speaking events such as AWS Summit and AWS re:Invent.
Job Requirements
Basic Qualifications- L6
- 8+ years of solutions architecture or equivalent experience
- 8+ years experience in Analytics technology (data warehouse, ETL, search, streaming, and/or data visualization
- 5+ years of decision-maker engagement
Preferred Qualifications- L6
- College/University degree or equivalent experience
- Technical Cloud Certification
- Proven ability to lead projects with complex challenges with extensible, operationally excellent, cost optimized, and aligned solutions outcomes
- Ability to lead a team or small organization-wide initiative with business objectives that are partially defined
- Able to effectively communicate across an increasing diversity of audiences internally and externally
- Strong ability to determine solution strategy and where to simplify or extend solutions for the best outcome
- Ability to influence customer and internal business decision makers as a technical thought leader

- An advanced degree in computer science, MIS, engineering or related discipline
- Hands-on experience with Amazon Web Services
