Cloud Data Engineer – Australia Data
Role Location – Manyata Tech Park, Bangalore
Role Type – FTE, 4.4

The Australia Data tribe sits within our Australia Retail & Commercial division and our mission is to combine business & technology capabilities to enable analytics, reporting & data asset development by users across ANZ’s Australia Retail & Commercial division.
As a Cloud Data Engineer in the Australia Data tribe you will be responsible for designing and creating data processing solutions that enable value from analytic models to drive rapid decision making.
A key element of this is driving the data engineering agenda within the Australia Data tribe, ensuring delivery of best practice end-to-end data engineering respecting ANZ architecture standards. You will challenge inefficient engineering practise in ANZ and influence change in your field to drive better business outcomes. To this end, in the role you will implement smart and relevant data engineering to drive E2E application delivery and support the uplift of data engineering capability in Australia Data tribe, while linking into the wider Enterprise Analytics roadmap.
What will your day look like
Build, maintain and support cloud native data platform with strong mindset of IaaS and process automation
Follow DevOps and DataOps rationality and best practices continuously improving data platform and data infrastructures to enable robust, fault-tolerant data product development and runtime environment.
Working in a cross skilled squad with people both from business and technology to build end to end features

What will you bring?
We are looking for engineers with demonstrable, hands on experience in some of the following skills:
5 plus years of experience in Data Engineering.
Good understanding and production experience with developing Kubernetes applications, preferably in data analytics projects.
Knowledge and good experience with one or more Kubernetes distributions or managed services. E.g., RedHat OpenShift 4, AWS EKS, GCP GKE etc.
Good understanding and experience with GitOps process and experiences with popular Git tools. E.g., GitHub, Bitbucket etc.
Good understanding and experience with cloud native CI/CD pipeline design and tools. E.g., Codefresh/Argo CD
Good understanding and experience with cloud native configuration management tools. E.g., Helm or Kustomize
Strong skills and experiences in dockering opensource projects and analytics applications at production-level, preferably data related opensource projects. E.g., Airflow, JupyterHub, Spark and MLflow etc.
Strong understanding in software engineering best practices and good coding skills in Python or Golang
Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate and write technical documents.
