The Position
Arch’s 2023 Summer Internship Program is a paid 10-week program that offers students a unique opportunity to gain hands on experience in the insurance industry. The program will provide a learning experience that serves as a foundation for interns to explore their career choices and to develop professional skills. Working alongside with some of the most talented members of the insurance industry, our interns will gain relevant expertise in various aspects of the field.
The program will start on Wednesday, May 24th and run through Friday, August 4th.
Here at Arch, we work hard, but we also like to have fun too. Throughout our program, our interns will have plenty of opportunities to get to know their fellow interns and have some fun! Last year’s program included trivia night, weekly lunch and learns to hear from leaders all across the company, a virtual escape room, and even a comedy show!

Job Responsibilities
The Data Scientist Intern will:
- Collaborate with experienced modelers to build predictive models and analytic solutions
- Research and test new analytics approaches and tools
- Assist in testing and implementation of models
- Create and maintain documentation associated with models
By the end of the program, the Data Scientist Intern will have:
- Gained working knowledge of basic modeling techniques
- Gained experience working with both analytical and non-analytical functions
- Gained an appreciation for a broad scope of analytical-type work
Throughout the program, the Data Scientist Intern will collaborate with other Data Scientist Interns on a group project that solves a business need. A presentation to peers will take place at the end of the program.
Required Skills/Experience
The standard qualifications of intern candidates are:
- Rising sophomore, junior, or senior undergraduate status or in a Master’s program
- Must have at least 3.0 GPA
- Interest in the insurance industry
Additional Qualifications For The Data Scientist Intern
- Experience with R, Python, and SQL a plus
- Experience with cloud-based tools such as Databricks, Snowflake, Azure a plus
- Master’s candidate greatly preferred
