This position is factory based in Beverly, MA and the successful candidate will be expected to be in the facility to collaborate directly with the TD team in the R&D and Process labs. This position may require occasional international travel (5-15%)
Axcelis Technologies is looking for a professional in the field of data analytics. The candidate shall be well versed in Descriptive, Diagnostic, Predictive, and Prescriptive Analytics, as well as the utilization of analytic tools. The core task includes collecting, analyzing, and statistic modeling of large data sets. Using the data-driven information, the candidate would develop actionable AI and machine learning algorithms to solve business technology challenges.
The successful candidate will join a diverse team of scientists and engineers working to advance the leading edge of Ion Implantation for advanced microchip manufacturing.
Our Ion Implant equipment employs a wide range of physics (plasma, high voltage, magnetics etc) and engineering (high vacuum, pcb design, in-house designed robotics etc). Your role as the Process Engineer will be to discover insights in trace data to facilitate discovery and invention to provide value to the microchip manufacturers combating the world-wide chip shortage.
Responsibilities
- Utilize analytical, statistical, and programming skills to collect, analyze, and interpret large data sets and use this information to develop solutions to solve technology challenges
- Be responsible for AI and Machine Learning projects for engineering applications from conception to deployment
- Research, design, and build analytic solutions and develop machine learning algorithms to solve the technical challenge
- Collaborate with software developers to deploy the solution to production machine
- Understand the technology needs and requirements that call for Machine Learning applications in our machines and have the judgment to determine where classical vs ML models are more appropriate
- Continue to monitor and review data analytics and data science publications to bring new tools to the organization
- Use predictive modeling to increase and optimize ion implant equipment efficiency, productivity, and reliability.
- Develop test plans and work with QA team to gather data for testing and validate the models
- Communicate project roadmaps, status and accomplishments in a clear and effective manner to internal and external stakeholders
- Collaborate with team to assist patent applications
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in related field required.
- Strong foundation in probability, statistics, data mining, and AI and Machine Learning as evidenced through academic classes or work experience.
- Experience building AI and Machine Learning algorithms for engineering applications from the ground up until deployment in a production environment.
- Experience with program languages such as C++, C#, Python, R, JavaScript, and SQL.
- Project management skills and experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to produce accurate, punctual reports and presentations.
- Experience in semiconductor/electronics industry, especially in product development.
- Understanding of embedded systems: sensors, Real-Time systems, C languages, etc.
