Data Engineer

POSITION PURPOSE:
DSCI is a dynamic team that interacts with many stakeholders to maximize sales impact, discover new patients and improve therapy outcomes. Thisposition contributes towards solving complex problems with machine learning and other advanced analytical techniques in order to continuously improvethe way Bayer does business.

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• The primary responsibility of this role is to develop data-driven applications and systems. Examples include batch processing systems, web apps,APIs, and possibly libraries to support the delivery of data science insights.
• This role is the owner of the business logic used to slice and dice customer and sales data. Subject matter expertise in developing the area andestablishing themselves as the business owner is a major responsibility.
• Work closely with data scientists to source, prepare and automate the flow of data into machine learning systems.
• Develop performant and future-proof systems that can grow and serve users in the long term.
• When appropriate, advise non-technical or business stakeholders on the best path forward. This requires excellent communication skills, includinglistening and presenting information in a clear, understandable way.
• Manage inter-team dependencies effectively by steering roadmaps in order to deliver big-picture objectives.
• Manage onshore and offshore resources, as well as in-house and external consultants.
• Demonstrate thought leadership and content expertise in advanced analytics to business partners, including development of key training programs.

WHO YOU ARE:

• Graduate degree in quantitative field (Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Management Science, Operations Research,Finance, Applied Mathematics, etc.)
• Marketing and sales and/or Commercial Pharma domain expertise related to CRM systems, sales and marketing operations, including customersegmentation, promotional activity, etc, and the data models commonly applied to the domain
• Commercial Pharma domain expertise with respect to sales data, especially data provided by IQVIA and other vendors
• 8+ years work experience
• Strong knowledge of SQL and Python
• Experience with cloud platforms focused on data warehousing and processing. Examples: Snowflake, Databricks, AWS Redshift, Google BigQuery,etc.
• Knowledge of Docker and related technologies
• Commitment to software development best practices such as CI/CD
• Experience building data-driven applications
• Strong analytical skills, team playing, and communication skills
• Experience in Pharma industry is a plus
