Business Intelligence Engineer
Your Role and Responsibilities
In this role, you will be art of Bilfinger’s business intelligence and data analytics team, where we deliver data analytics solutions to a wide range of industrial sector clients. On the front end, you will work with clients to get real-time, interactive reports that allow them to improve their decision-making through the use of data. On the back end, you will drive data integration among multiple silo’d data assets. Bilfinger’s Data Analytics team uses their skills and technical expertise to deliver innovative solutions to our internal and external clients.
As a BI Engineer, your analytical and technical skills will directly impact the quality of the applications we create. In your role, you will be responsible for:
- Leveraging a variety of structured and unstructured data sources, analytics, and programming languages to derive meaningful data insights (e.g., Python, R, Spark, TensorFlow, etc.)
- Write programs to cleanse and integrate data in an efficient and reusable manner
- Familiar with data engineering techniques (gather, prepare, cleanse, and transform data for analysis and AI automation, including automating data pipelines)
- Knowledge/Experience with Reporting Tools like Power BI, Tableau, etc
- Assist in the creation of dashboards and reporting models
- Working in an Agile, collaborative environment and partnering with other data scientists, analysts, and industrial experts to bring analytical rigor and statistical methods to the challenges in construction and maintenance
- Communicating with internal and external clients to understand and define business needs and appropriate modelling techniques to provide analytical solutions
- Evaluating modelling results and communicating the results to technical and non-technical audiences
- Collaborate with the rest of the technical team to ensure applications align with the organization’s goals, as well as customer needs
- Remain current on technology trends to keep our software as innovative as possible
You must live in, or be willing to relocate to Houston, Texas
Some travel is expected. Travel is typically related to knowledge transfer and training across Bilfinger. You are expected to travel up to 10% of the time.
Your Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or other related fields
- 2+ years of relevant professional experience
- Ability to program in at least one of the following languages: R, Python, SQL, Spark, or DAX
- Basic understanding of statistical programming in a language such a R, Python, SAS or Scala
- Inquisitive mindset and a passion for data
- Ability to thrive in an ever-changing, technology-based environment
- Strong communication skills
