The Team
We are looking for a Senior Business Systems Analyst to join our Enterprise Business Applications Team. The mission of our team is to ignite the power of digital platforms to better support the core work of the foundation, accelerate achieving our goals and amplify the impact the foundation can have on the world.
This position reports to the Manager – IT, Business Applications Finance, Travel, Events.
Your Role
This specific role will focus on managing modern, scalable, and secure applications to enable streamlined foundation-wide business processes supporting the Finance, Travel and Events functions.
The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate their technical experience and discernment to maintain a positive relationship with users and business partners while providing the clarity needed by technical teams to deliver elegant solutions to the most important foundation priorities.
What You’ll Do
Customer Engagement: In-depth understanding of our customers’ needs and a champion for continuous improvement. Collaborate with business partners on changing business needs, analyze business requirements and communicate the system implications of proposed business process changes.
Domain Expertise / Solution Design: Build highly developed functional domain expertise with the ability to assess solution options including required security changes, adjacent system impacts, and reporting. Help business partners understand the implications and value of different solution alternatives.
Delivery: Estimate work effort and make commitments within the defined Agile framework, perform system configuration changes, define test scenarios, test configuration and development changes (system customizations and integrations) to ensure satisfaction of requirements, facilitate business testing and issue resolution, partner with business team on organizational change and coordinate deployment. Act as the liaison between business collaborators and the software development teams. Lead solution reviews, demos, and user acceptance testing. Ensure documentation and transition to operations of applications and features results in a highly maintainable and supportable solution. Coordinate work across multiple business partners and technology service teams to ensure delivery of requirements in a way that accomplishes project goals and fosters collective success.
Support: Use domain expertise in solving support issues. Responsible for user security design and maintenance, system monitoring, technical system documentation, support of application compliance documentation and audits. Proactively look for areas of process improvement, incorporating standard methodologies and efficient processes in which to conduct day-to-day operations.
Project Management: Responsible for end-to-end project management of assigned projects. Partner with assigned project manager from the Project Management Office on larger initiatives to ensure the appropriate tasks and landmarks for application delivery are included in the plan. Work within a fast-paced Agile environment across multiple teams to ensure reliable execution against plan.
Leadership: Lead work across multiple business partners and technology service teams on requirements gathering, solution design and feasibility analysis (functional and technical) in alignment to robust, sustainable, scalable and security focused design standards. Influence and empower team members while building trust and positive relationships across the team and foundation to help drive the work forward. Partner with the management team by providing input into the annual planning and project forecasting processes, have an eye for continuous improvement opportunities both within the team and across the business. May include management of workstreams within large enterprise-wide projects and end-to-end management of small, medium, or large enhancements projects.
Your Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- 8+ years of business systems analysis, solution architecture, or equivalent experience with a focus on finance and accounting applications
- Experience in delivery of global systems using key strengths in business requirements elicitation and documentation, translation to functional and non-functional technical requirements, options analysis, solutions design, test planning and execution, and organizational change.
- Strong analytic curiosity and innovative problem-solving skills using a systems-thinking and data-driven approach.
- Proven track record of evaluating business and technology needs and translating that understanding into configuration of the software and / or technical specifications for custom development
- Experience within agile delivery, software development lifecycle and project management processes. Experience in all phases of a project including working with all partners, business users, and technical teams (Plan, Analyze, Design, Develop, Test, Deploy, Stabilize and Support). Ability to move between requirements gathering with customers, solution design with IT partners, and driving all phases of project delivery.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to translate technology impact into business consumable resources for consumers at all levels of the organization. Good active listening skills and solid attention to detail
- Ability to function as a bridge across disciplines, such as user design, product owners, business owners, and technology teams
- Leading and facilitating business process and requirements gathering with business partners including business process and data flow documentation.

- Understanding of finance and accounting business processes
- Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Accounting implementation / configuration experience a plus
- Workday Adaptive Planning implementation / configuration experience a plus
- Understanding of system integration patterns
- Lean Six Sigma certifications / continuous improvement experience a plus
