Boeing Research & Technology (BR&T) Mission Systems & Autonomy team is currently looking for a 3D Computer Vision Engineering Technologist for Artificial Intelligence and Autonomy, to join our team in Seattle, Washington.

Our team is seeking a broad range of experience levels including Mid-Level or Lead Computer Vision Technologists .

As the advanced central research and development organization of The Boeing Company, Boeing Research & Technology (BR&T) provides innovative technologies that enable the development of future aerospace solutions while improving the cycle time, cost, quality and performance of existing Boeing products and services.

Employees work in a multifaceted and distributed environment where the initiative and contribution of each team member is essential to success. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently and as part of a distributed (and international) team. Many projects are multi-year and end with the successful capability integration and transition into Boeing products and services. Project work can be funded by Independent Research and Development, Contracted Research and Development, or support to a Business Unit.

A successful candidate will be an experienced and motivated 3D Computer Vision Engineering Technologist with practical experience in implementing and operating a photogrammetry reconstruction pipeline including architecture, workflows, data management, and map quality metrics. They will perform research and development (R&D) by rapidly prototyping advanced aerospace perception systems. They will have knowledge of 3D computer vision techniques, photogrammetry algorithms, training and deployment of deep-learned computer vision tasks, and cloud-based workflows. They will be comfortable in taking initiative, learning from others and by experience, seeking feedback, and creating innovative ideas. They will get great satisfaction in applying and engineering solutions that will work in the real world.

Position Responsibilities:
Performs advanced computer vision research, maturing state-of-the-art 3D computer vision and deep learning techniques for novel aerospace applications

Analyzes and improves efficiency, accuracy, scalability, and stability of currently deployed systems

Adapts and integrates various hardware and software capabilities into workable prototypes

Design, create, and evaluate new or modified data analysis algorithms to meet application requirements, such as statistical analysis, machine learning, and visual analytics

Leads technically the development and design of intelligent systems approaches and solutions

Develops roadmaps and architectures to meet long-term business needs

Designs, develops, and evaluates algorithms, models and architected systems

Implements software agents and software programs to satisfy requirements

Effectively communicates results to teammates, management, and customers

Demonstrates an interest in personal learning and development

This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor degree or higher in a Computer Science or related experience

4+ years of software development experience

Experience with implementing and operating photogrammetry reconstruction pipeline including architecture, workflows, data management, and map quality metrics

Experience in agile methodologies

Experience with C++, Python, or other programming languages

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Graduate degree in computer science or related field with a specialty in 3D computer vision and deep learning

Practical experience of production-grade photogrammetric pipelines

Practical experience of training and deploying deep-learning computer vision models

Proficient in cross-disciplinary areas including statistics, pattern recognition, and computer science

Experience with software architecture, design patterns, and data structures

Experience with modeling and simulation of vehicles, mobile robots, and sensors

Strong knowledge of mathematics

Experience with software lifecycle practices, agile methodology, and repositories, such as JIRA and Git

Domain experience in aviation

Typical Education/Experience:
Mid-Level (Level 3)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years’ related work experience, 9 years’ related work experience, etc.).

Lead Level (Level 4)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years’ related work experience, Master+7 years’ related work experience, 13 years’ related work experience, etc.).

Please note that the salary information shown below is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary Pay Range Mid-Level: $113,050 – $152,950

Summary Pay Range Lead Level: $136,850 – $185,150
