SUMMARY

HR Data Scientists uncover critical workforce insights from large volumes of data and help HR leaders make data-driven decisions to better deliver on the ministry’s mission & to improve the overall BSMH associate experience. The scientist’s primary focus will be in applying data mining techniques, performing statistical analysis, and building high quality prediction systems integrated with human capital management.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Lead data extraction efforts & serve as the expert on data sources, data consolidation methods and related technology
  • Manage data preparation efforts and guide data scientists in the creation of advanced statistical analyses and predictive models
  • Manage efforts to improve overall data quality & partner with other internal teams to drive system-wide improvement
  • Lead the team in building out analytic capabilities and predictive models using statistical techniques to resolve ministry challenges and uncover critical human capital insights
  • Select features, build and optimize classifiers using machine learning techniques.
  • Build partnerships with ministry leaders and business partners to understand ministry needs and develop advanced analytical solutions and plans
  • Lead efforts to utilize statistical discoveries to create meaningful presentations, infographics, and white papers that tell a story focused on statistical insights, not just data.
  • Stay up to date and serve as an expert with regards to latest advanced analytical and machine learning technologies
  • Manage development of data visualizations and advanced reporting capabilities that provide deeper workforce insight for senior leadership
  • Partner with IT & technical teams to implement repeatable, production-oriented processes that can be incorporated into the ministry’s workflow

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Minimum Education:

  • BA/BS
  • Specialty/Major – Data Analytics, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics

Preferred Education:

  • BA/BS or Masters-level
  • Specialty/Major – Data Analytics, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics

Minimum Years and Type of Experience:

  • 10+ years of related experience
  • 5+ years of experience using R, Python or SAS for data analytics
  • 5+ years of SQL experience strongly preferred
  • 2+ years of experience with Tableau or similar tool to provide data visualizations & reporting
  • Experience leading teams in the design, build and optimization of statistical models
  • 2+ years experience with relational databases & data warehousing, including prior experience collaborating with data engineering and DBA teams
  • Experience with cloud-based data solutions such as Google Cloud Platform / aws / Microsoft Azure is preferred
  • Experience with Workday Reporting & Workday PRISM and/or other large-scale Human Capital Management (HCM) systems preferred

  • Strong written, verbal, and comprehension skills required
