Position Summary
The Data Scientist – Test & Learn will perform scientific experiments for Bridgestone’s Data Science team in support of tests throughout the organization. Assist various teams with making sound business decisions, based on specific metrics and goals. Partner with appropriate members of the organization to ensure a collaborative and consistent approach is taken towards test strategy, implementation, and measurement. Relationship building, negotiating, business sense, analytical and statistical aptitude, and flexibility are critical to the success of this position. Position can sit in Nashville, TN or remotely.
Responsibilities
Job Duties

Perform feasibility analysis and comprehensive research to determine if the submitted test is a valid request.

Based on a solid hypothesis, be able to design a customized test utilizing numerous parameters and an optimized set of stores to ensure minimal noise and actionable test results.

Final test analysis includes financial impact on the organization, correlate analysis to understand the drivers of performance, regression analysis to identify stores with the highest probability of success if rolled out, and recommendation for next steps

Manage work stream of the internal Test & Learn website: test requests, tracking and reporting of results

Test Requests – Field, document, and archive all incoming test requests

Test Tracker – Maintain internal on-line test tracking system ensuring that it is kept current with the latest requests, updates, and analyses

Prepare and present test analyses directly to Middle and Senior Management. These presentations are succinct in nature, requiring direct and highly effective communication, charts, and graphs for instant reception and understanding of the results and recommendations

Perform maintenance of APT software – manage the database (keeping it organized with only current data), key attributes, global groups – and identify/resolve system and user issues. Also, serve as one of the primary company liaisons to APT

Utilize multiple internal and external data sources in conjunction with APT to generate the most meaningful and actionable insights from each test. Data sources include customer loyalty, consumer marketplace, data warehouse, and APT

Be a “business expert,” knowledgeable of current and future trends in the business, industry and information technology and systems, and be able to create innovative and efficient solutions to business problems
Required Qualifications
-
Master’s degree in a quantitative field including but not limited to data science, analytics, and statistics or bachelor’s degree with 2-3 years of data science experience.

Experience in one or more of manufacturing, retail operations, new product development, supply chain or marketing research (incl. digital media, subscription packages, market analysis).

Ability to work with data sets from multiple data sources.

Support other data scientists with projects (EDA, Modeling, etc.)

Prior experience participating in projects using common project management methodologies e.g., Agile, Waterfall, Six Sigma, Lean.

Able to support the building of business cases related to data science related projects.

Enjoys working collaboratively with other data scientists and multiple stakeholders across the business unit and with external partners.

Able to solve problems and brainstorm options to solve a given problem.

Intellectual curiosity, a passion for data and results orientation.
Minimum Qualifications
Typically requires a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 2 years of related experience; or an advanced degree without experience; or equivalent work experience
