Job Location: Hartford, CT

Summary Data Platform and Analytics Services (DPaAS) team in Finance IT is looking for a senior Data Engineer to provide thought leadership and help with technical design, data modeling and pipeline build for all key data platform projects for Corporate applications and US market solutions. This is a key growth area for the Finance organization and will lay a strong foundation for the cloud based data platform to enable accurate and timely insights for the stakeholders to make informed and strategic decisions.

Senior Data Engineer will work on a team of highly talented individuals and be responsible for the design and Build of Finance IT data assets and its components that interface with complex enterprise systems and external vendor systems. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working with complicated distributed applications preferably in AWS Cloud as well as a strong interest in technology and addressing data integration problems. The candidate should be zealous and driven to keep up with the latest technological developments.

Engineers must be self-motivated, well-rounded team players who thrive in a collaborative, dynamic, and agile environment. Excellent communication skills both written and oral are also essential as this position will interface with remote scrum teams, business owners, enterprise architects, security teams, infrastructure teams, and end users via email, phone, IM, desktop sharing, and confluence. Responsibilities

Leverage existing open source frameworks, third party components/libraries, and commercial software for tracking, managing and applying database schema changes across multiple environments including production in AWS;

Create Data model and efficient Data pipelines;

Implement automation and repeatable processes to manage database changes;

Work closely with infrastructure teams to optimize data load or report performance;

Work closely with quality assurance and end users to support timely delivery of data processes;

Support and enhance existing Finance IT Data Platforms used by consumers as well as operations staff. Skillset

Engineer should be very familiar with advanced concepts and have relevant, hands-on experience in many of the following areas to be a successful contributor on the team;

Database Design and Analysis ;

AWS Cloud and Big Data Technologies;

Data Migration and transformation Principles and tools, preferably Apache Airflow/ AWS Glue / Alteryx;

Working knowledge of Python specifically data structures, flow controls, pandas;

Data Warehouse and Data Modelling (Star and dimensional modelling etc.);

Strong SQL skills including DDL, DML, Joins, Regex, Window functions;

Understand Principles of Data Concurrency and Consistency;

BI and Reporting Tools such as Tableau or any similar tool;

Experience with Git, Github and Jenkins. Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline strongly preferred;

Eight or more years of diverse work experience in IT with a minimum of five years’ experience in Data Engineering.

If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.

For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of 115,100 – 191,800 USD / yearly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.

This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan.
